Chapter 7: Ideal Date

Again, his heart skips a beat hearing his true name come off your lips like a trigger. It's rather foreign to be addressed by his real name, part of him wanted to succumb to his urges and pounce you but opted not to as he would possibly scare you away. The thought alone is unforgiving after mustering the courage to convey his feelings. He acknowledged your concern and with a forced smile before setting off. You watch where he once stood, in a daze before turning to face your home then squealing excitedly.

Emerging later from the scheduled time, you reunite with dashing blonde. His taste in fashion is actually attractive than expected. He wore a black, denim jacket comprised of a white tee, jeans and lastly a pair of black vans. He stood out like a sore thumb given how he never seems to change his color preference in the time you've known him, unless you count his blue jeans.

Meanwhile, you took your sweet time struggling to pick out a cute outfit that would dazzle your sweetheart. In the end, you went with a white, off-shoulder sweater, jeans and a pair of sneakers matched with your black, satchel. Of course, you also made time to do your hair just to feel yourself if all else failed. "Sorry I'm late." You panted. Just as you thought your plans were futile, Mikey's jaw drops, his eyes taking in your adorable attire. His face said it all as if stuck buffering to spout a single sentence. He didn't know what to say except, "wow". You tuck a strand of your hair bashfully behind your ear. Internally, you cheered at succeeding what you set out to do. "Is that you, nerd? You clean up nicely. I could have mistaken you for someone else." He praised. His compliment is too much for your dorky self to handle. No one has poetically complimented your appearance. "Th-thank you. I can say the same about you." You cooed. "Shall we get going?"

Both of you start the day with a nice stroll, searching for something to do. At the same time, you wanted to walk hand in hand, but he seemed rather shy to do so. You supposed public display of affection is not something he's fine with. Still, having done so much for you, you decide to make the first move in taking his hand. The motion doesn't go unnoticed replying by holding back your hand and, (is he blushing?) avert his gaze. You sigh, content to be accepted. So many times you've held his hand and not once do you tire of how warm and rough they are fitting perfectly with yours like a puzzle piece.

'This feels natural after so long of being awkward. It's as though he's mine and it's surreal. He's my boyfriend...my Mikey'

"What do you want to do?" The query snaps your train of thought. "Huh?" You croaked. "You're the one who asked me out so what's first on the list?" He reminded. "Oh...right." You did indeed invite him on a date and as such it's your duty to lead the way. You begin to freak seeking your surroundings for something interesting. Lo and behold, the stars grace you with the arcade. "How about some video games? I'm really good at combat simulators. Dare to challenge me?" You nudged. "You can fight in a video game but not in real life? That's hard to imagine." He mocked. "Hey! I can too!" You exclaimed. "Violence in real life is scary." Mikey let out a snicker, "it's such a rush though and it's considerably easy if you know how to throw a punch." He said. "I should give you a lesson in self-defense sometime."

"Maybe." You concurred.

Not a second sooner, you enter the building to exchange money for quarters. The first game you promised is a street fighting game. Later on, in the seventh match, you hang up the mantle after being clobbered by your boyfriend. "I can't believe you beat me." You whined. "I know. Whatever happened to those skills you claimed to have?" You glare at the snickering blonde. "I still got them, but I feel hustled." You huffed. "Huh? How so?"

"For starters, you never told me you were good at video games." You pointed out. "If I had told you earlier then it wouldn't be fun to witness your priceless face." You puff your cheeks discontentedly then reach for his cheeks to stretch. "You are so mean." You huffed. "Owe! Hey, you're one ta talk. You were gonna take advantage of a noob." He argued. "Not true! I was gonna teach you." You retorted.
