Chapter 5: Transitions and Reversal

"Cheers", I said with a smile as Posy picked up the remaining glass, "Here's to a great night."

Everyone else cheered with me as we all took a gulp of Posy's drink.

A.N: I am in no way trying to romanticize drinking alcohol, especially if you are underage. I am simply using it as a plot device, and showing a real phenomenon that happens with teenagers everywhere. It's heavily romanticized in most media, but remember that there's a reason why the drinking age is 21. Alcohol can be destructive, and addictive, and lead to many problems. Always drink responsibly no matter what age you are. Ok that is all, let's continue.

Immediately I felt a warm sensation fill my body. It was like my senses were starting to dull. I grinned, then looked at Jenna and Holly who had similar expressions to me. It felt so strange.

"Don't finish it all so soon", laughed Posy as she sipped on hers.

It was really interesting seeing the immediate changes in Holly and Jenna. Jenna's face immediately took on a little bit of a reddish glow, and she started to author at everything being said a lot more. Holly just started to get louder with the jokes she was making. I felt like I just had a stupid kind of smile on my face as I watched everyone talking excitedly. Definitely a weird feeling.

After finishing the drinks Jenna and I started to head towards Katie's place, which was only like a 5 minute walk.

"Have fun you two!", called Posy after us, "Make sure not to drink too much more."

"I'll see you two later!", called Holly with a whoop.

I just felt super upbeat and happy as we were walking. Tonight was just gonna be a good night. I pushed the thoughts of my conversation with Pari out of my head for a little while.

I draped my arm around Jenna, "Let'ssss sing a song", I slightly slurred.

"Alrightt!", she laughed back at me.

We started to scream-sing the national anthem as we walked towards Katie's house.

Once we arrived at her house we were quickly ushered upstairs to Katie's room. Chris was already there, and Jenna and I pretended to ignore the messed up bedsheets and his ruffled up hair.

"Let's take a shot!", Katie screamed as she closed the door behind us.

After playing a game of truth and dare, and drinking a cup of some super strong tasting alcohol, we were all stumbling a little bit as we all piled into Katie's sister's car.

"To the beach!", exclaimed Chris, and we all cheered in unison.

Once we got there, we were kinda shocked by how many people were there. It seemed like our entire year, plus or minus some randos.

"Stay safe you guys.", said Katie's sister as we all mumbled thanks and slid out of the car.

We said hi to a few of our other friends as we were ushered into the area. I looked around as we walked in. A huge pavilion had been brought up with sloping poles. The pavilion was pretty large, but not large enough to house everyone. Drunk people were already starting to dance on the outskirts in the sand.

There was a dance floor in the middle of the pavilion, and there was already a huddle of people jumping up and down in the middle. We wisely chose to avoid that for now, and went to the side, looking around.
