Mabilis ang naging pag-aksyon ng mga Suarez laban kay Jaime Dimitri. Papa Steve with their men and the authorities flew to Guimaras to catch him. Gusto pa sanang sumama ni Hellios patungo roon ngunit pinigilan ko lang. I’m worried that he won’t be able to control his temper when he sees him.

Sa sobrang galit niya kay Jaime, natatakot ako na hindi niya ma-kontrol ang sarili niya at... who knows what he can do against him.

Ang huling balita na narinig namin mula kay Papa Steve ay hawak na ng ng mga awtoridad si Jaime. They are still deciding what to do with Mrs. Deborah but Tita Erica suggested to just let the old woman live in peace.

“Hellios, can you please cook the breakfast for us? I’m too sleepy to get up.” My voice was gruffy from the long sleep I had but still wasn’t enough.

Naalimpungatan lang ako at nakitang alas-4 na ng umaga. I should be in the kitchen right now preparing for our breakfast.

“What time did you sleep last night, Elizabeth?”

“I don’t know. Why are you asking me that?”

“I thought we slept together just before eleven. Nagising ako nang ala-1 at nakitang nagbabasa pa ng libro. You’ve been reading that book for days now.”

Sa tono ng boses niya, halatang nakasimangot siya. I want to open my eyes but they’re too heavy to even lift them up.

“It’s a romance novel about vampires. It is really good,” I chuckled. “I felt butterflies in my stomach while reading that.”

“Vampi—what? Since when did you like reading stories like that? Vampires, Chloe? Really?” mapang-asar siyang humalakhak.

Mabilis akong nagmulat ng mga mata at sinamaan siya ng tingin.

“Are you judging me?”

“I... don’t think so," the smirk on his lips faded. “I am just asking you. You told me before that you don’t like reading books about creatures such as vampires. What happened now, huh?”

My eyes narrowed into slits. “Nothing is permanent in this world!”

Mabilis kong itinalukbong ang comforter sa ulo ko at muling pumikit para ituloy sana ang pagtulog.

“Well, I have to agree with that but my love is an exception. It will always be permanent.”

Tahimik akong ngumiti pagkarinig no’n ngunit hindi na siya sinagot pa. Inakala kong matutulog pa rin kagaya ko da dahil biglang nanahimik. Gano’n na lang ang pagtalon ng puso ko nang marahas niyang iangat ang comforter. Mabilis kong inalis ang ngiti sa labi ko habang nakatingin sa kaniya.

Sumimangot siya. “What is wrong with you?”

“Nothing is wrong with me. I told you I’m sleepy. Why can’t you let me?” My lips protruded.

Umawang ang labi niya habang titig na titig sa akin. He placed his hand on my forehead and then on my neck.

“Are you not feeling well?”

Ano ba’ng sinasabi niya? I just want to go back to sleep. Bakit niya itatanong kung may sakit ako? Do I look sick?

“I’m good, Hellios. Just let me sleep please. Ikaw na muna ang bahala sa almusal mo. Malaki ka na.”

Hindi ko na siya hinintay pang sagutin ako at muling itinalukbong ang comforter sa mukha. As soon as I close my eyes, I quickly dozed off to sleep.

Nagising ako at halos sikatan na ng araw sa mukha. Tumalikod ako sa bintana kung saan bukas ang kurtina. Mula sa pagkakapikit ay dumaan sa ilong ko ang amoy ng spam. I unlocked my eyes only to see a tray food over the bed side table. There’s even a sticky note on attached on it.
