29. summertime blues and goodbyes

My eyes widen.. I'M NOT IN MY DIMENSION, oh no- no no no! Not even letting her ask another word I return to the still locked portal

"MAMI! THIS ISN'T OUR DIMENSION! you're fifteen here and still in the boiling isles! Oh my God.. please I'm scared.."

There is quiet shushes emerging from the other side and I begin to sob, her hand places roughly on the wood, placing my hand somewhere near hers as much as my ears will let me hear where her hand is I rest my forehead on the door

"NO ODALIA- you let my daughter return RIGHT NOW!"

there is a silence then abuelita odalia's voice returns cold and bitter

" I don't think I will"

The door crumbles into dust as mami luzes voice screams 'NO' and I immediately know.. the portal is broken- I'm never going home..   walking numbly to the small park in a dimension that isn't even mine I sit next to the tree mami luz had sat with friends at.. if she was born in this one..  gripping my hair I scream out an involuntary shout and sob into the cold night, several house lights turn on but no one looks outside... except for one man, he's tall with brown hair, blue eyes and a very out of season goatee, all brought together with a bent pair of black tortoiseshell glasses. Mami luz told me about this man.. and to stay away- but.. I was too scared to walk off as he went to kneel down in front of me. Flinching away from his touch a whiney scared growl escapes from me, but he rests his hand on my shoulder

"You're.. a witch.. aren't you?"

Nodding gently but then shaking my head no I say

"I have some human in me.. sir.. it just doesn't look that way.."

Standing up he holds out his hand to me

"C'mon.. lets get you out of the cold.. it's nearly winter."

I'd sat down on the couch in his entertainment room as I stare down at the tea he'd given me, sitting in front of me he twiddles his thumbs in endless circles

"Thank you sir.. you didn't need to"

He chuckles slightly, his head shaking like I'd said some joke

"It's no big deal... you just looked like you needed a little bit of help"

My brow scrunches downward as I reply

"Mi mami told me not to trust you sir... she told me you hurt her friend one time because she was a demon"

He looks startled at me a moment, then asks

"Are you that.. camilla's daughter?"

I shake my head no and he almost immediately relaxes

"I'm her daughter's daughter.. luz noceda is mi mami, camilla is mi abuelita- in another dimension.."

My body starts shaking as I remember I don't belong here in one fashion or another, setting the mug on the coffee table I cradle my head to sob. He wraps me in a hug and in a paternal way rocks me softly
