Chapter 5

Minji's POV

"Please join us out here..." he said

"Okay..." officer. Yang said "are you ready?" He asked, and I nodded slowly

"I guess so..." I said and slowly walked ahead of the man

"Cover him up, until she says she wants to see..." Officer. Byun whispered to what I assume to be a coworker

"Step out please" he said and moved out of my way

"They're... gone" the paramedic said

"C-can I see them?" I asked

"Of course" the paramedic said and bowed before uncovering my brother and then my father

"He was shot in the heart..." Officer. Byun said "and he was shot in the stomach" he said pointing at my father

I crouched down by my brother's body, I held his hand and leant on him, giving him a hug, before going back to just crouching, I slowly broke into tears after reality struck

"Is my Eomma dead too?..." I asked Officer. Byun, he nodded sadly

"She used her last breaths, calling us up... she wanted to give you a message on behalf of them both... and then a second one from your brother, that was sent a little earlier" he said and handed me a note "I wrote it down... I felt it would be better for you to read it when you're ready..." he said

"We need to have a few words with you when you're ready" Officer. Yang said

"Shall we take them down so you can see your mother?" The paramedic asked... I couldn't do much but just nod it return "yes please..." I said in what was almost a whisper

After a few minutes I said my goodbyes to my Eomma, Appa and my brother

"Are you ready?" Officer. Yang asked patiently

"I-I think so" I replied, I started to struggle speaking cause I was trying to hold in the breakdown that I felt I was on the verge of

"Okay so... can you explain to me what happened?" He asked

"I was g-getting r-ready to celebrate m-my test scores w-with my parents W-when I heard a huge crash, I stopped W-what I was doing a-and tried to leave my room... b-but something was stopping me, then I heard my b-brother tell me to be q-quiet and s-safe and stuff l-like that" I started "I h-heard my e-Eomma begging the m-men to just take the money and leave the r-rest of us a-alone" I added "then t-they just continued a-asking for money... t-then they came upstairs, a-asking for the p-pin to the s-safe, my d-dad got defensive and a-angry because they said t-that they... that they" I struggled

"Hey... it's okay... you're doing great... you can tell us" he said

"That th-they s-stabbed my eomma... a-and m-my a-Appa tried to fight b-back... b-but they had a b-better weapon, a-a gun I think..." I explained "m-my b-brother on the other hand... he- he was left defenceless, h-he tried talking them o-out of going I-into my room, I-it worked... b-but then... then they decided to- to s-shoot him anyways..." I replied

"From the looks of the house this was an armed and pre planned robbery" Officer. Yang stated "we're sorry for your losses..." he said and tapped me on the shoulder

"We'll be back tomorrow asking about living situations..." he said "please take care of your self for the meantime" he added

"Okay..." I replied

"Keep a police officer here over night" Officer Yang whispered to Officer Byun

"Yes sir" Byun said with a bow
