Castles are cool, but are they suitable locations to survive during the inevitable and upcoming zombie apocalypse? We think they might be...

The Prompt

Six months ago, days before losing all hope of surviving, your group stumbled across a castle. Its walls intact, it seemed to be a gift straight from the Gods of the Apocalypse themselves. But will those walls keep you and your group safe when a horde hundreds of thousands of undead strong attack? That's a question only you can answer.

In no more than 5,000 words, and making use of one of the castles depicted in the six images below, tell the story.

The Rules

1. Your story should be a maximum length of 5,000 words. Exceeding this number will result in disqualification. There is no minimum word count.

2. Your story must make use of one of the six castles depicted.

3. Submission period runs from 17th Nov to 31st Dec 2021, at 23:59 BST.

4. Your entry must be written in English.

5. Your story cannot be fanfiction.

6. Mature content is permitted, though your story must adhere to Wattpad's Content Guidelines.

7. To enter, submit the story by posting your story title, story link and word count directly into the comment section.

The Prizes

1. Depending on the number of entries received, the three highest scoring entries, as judged by a team of trained Ambassadors, will earn the right to feature in our Contest Winners Anthology.

2. The highest scoring entry, as judged by a team of trained Ambassadors, will earn the right to feature in the Horror Anthology on the WattpadAnthologies profile, receive a winner sticker and a shout-out to over 6.3K followers.

3. All entries will receive a Castles & Zombies Participant cover sticker.
