Bruce's P.O.V.

Ella walked into my study while I was working on some paperwork for Wayne Industries.

"Hey Ella," I said, looking back down at my work.

"Bruuuccceee," she cooed, tugging on my arm. "I want to go to the park."

"You can go, Princess."

I was looking through papers, when Ella tugged on my arm again.

"Come with me, please?" I sighed and looked up at her. "You need a break, love. You'll be back in no time, I promise." She gave me puppy dog eyes, and I knew I couldn't resist.

"Alright," I gave in.

Ella put on a hug smile and jumped up and down.

"Thank you!" She said before rushing out of the room.

I laughed as I followed her to the front door. She put on a jacket, since it was now fall and windy, and I did as well.

"Will you be needing the car, sir, miss?" Alfred asked.

"No thank you, Alfred," Ella said. "We'll walk. It's a nice day today."

Alfred smiled, and I saw he was just as charmed with Ella as I was.

"Indeed," Alfred agreed before walking away.

Ella smiled and we walked outside. I took her hand in mine as we walked to the park.

"I really enjoy these times," Ella whispered.

"What times?" I asked.

"When Gotham seems quiet. Like it's just a normal city."

"Yeah," I mumbled. "That would be a miracle."

Ella nodded and leaned on me as we walked in silence. A peaceful silence. Just for a moment.

"You know, our pasts aren't so different," she said quietly. "We just went down different paths when it came to handling grief..."

"Do you wish I didn't?" I asked.

"Sometimes. I don't like to see you hurt, but you help the city, so I've come to terms with it. Besides, my brother did the same thing. But instead of becoming a crime fighter, he went into forensics and joined the police."

"And how did you handle it?"

"I became an investigative reporter. Sure, my bigger love was always science, but when no one believed me about the speedster I decided that I would one day be able to collect proof."

"Were you able to?"

"A little, but what would actually help would be a confession from the killer."

"You know who he is?"

"I think so... But I have to leave that job to Barry. Hopefully one day I'll be able to see my dad in a normal setting and not with a wall dividing us."

"I'm sure you will. If there's anything I can do to help, just say the word."

She smiled and leaned up to press a kiss on my cheek.

"Thank you, Bruce."
