Third Person P.O.V.

Many human's today wouldn't remember the idiom 'the calm before the storm' was originally used by sailors. Creatures of the deep were familiar with the saying. The eerily, still calm that seemed to happen right before a storm suddenly brewed up and darkened the skies out of nowhere. Destroying the tranquility the sailors were misguided into believing would stay with them throughout the rest of their travels. Forgetting they were these insignificant specks floating on this massive body of water that could choose to gently rock them, or destroy them in a gruely death at the drop of a hat. Valo had seen it many times growing up and always felt bad for the unsuspecting humans. But as the door slammed shut and everyone in the room jumped to the sound of the loud voice blaring from Valo's living room she realized; that a storm had come and she was about to be hit with the first wave.

"Hello," Durga's voice rang down the hall. "Am I not still a part of this family? Is no one going to greet me"!?

Valo heard her two batch mates groan and her elder brothers rolled their eyes. But their eyeballs barely hit the roofs of their eyes before a rush of water blew through the door and a flurry of bubbles alerted them of who'd they'd all been waiting for. Valo, her mother and siblings were no more surprised, while Abe was becoming more and more confused by the second, when the bubbles popped and revealed the loud figure. So, Abe thought to himself as he held his breath, this is Durga.

Durga was most certainly the most extravagantly dressed out of all her siblings. Her long green anemone hair was piled on top of her head in a large and tight bun, decorated with sea shells and teal flowers. A peach-pink jacket with hundreds of threadlike anemone petals rested on her shoulders and her chest was adorned with a pearl white bandana top, layered with silver netting. Her tentacles were green with blue tips and pearls hung around her waist. Like all of the siblings she inherited a bit of each of their parents' features, but Abe couldn't help but notice how much she favored Valo....or maybe it was the other way around.

"Hello family," she said, with a grin. She didn't seem to notice or just didn't care that each member of her family was looking at her with a hint of displeasure.

"Well look who finally decided to show up," Wayra hummed. His batchmate rolled her eyes as she shrugged off her coat.

"Wayra, Wayra please I don't have time for your useless banter," she said, waving her hand dismissively. "I need to mentally prepare for staying by my baby sister's side through this hard time".

Chentan leaned in closer to Valo and whispered "And here comes the diva".

Valo said nothing, but couldn't help but quietly agree. Durga only gave her family a wave and completely simply passed by Abe as she made her way to Valo and planted herself comfortably by Valo's free side. Abe couldn't help but wonder what she had to mentally prepare for, when it was his mate who was the one laying the eggs.

"Pregnancy is not a hard time, Durga," Istas reminded her.

Durga turned over her shoulder and placed her hand by her mouth.

"Tell that to her waist when this is over," she whispered, as if Valo and everyone in the room couldn't hear her.

Abe's hearing wasn't even close to the sensitivity Cecaelia's had and he'd heard it. Valo could just already feel her anger starting to boil, but she kept her calm demeanor. She knew how her sister could be and decided she wouldn't become one of Durga's punching bags. Not today.
