Chapter two: New friends

Angelina P.O.V

I straightened my hair today, dead straight. I think it made me look like a completely different person, I looked older more experienced. I grabbed my Paul's Boutique handbag and stuffed my books in it. I hurriedly wrote a conclusion to the end of my essay before stuffing it in my bag too. I can't believe they gave me homework on my first day, an essay even.

But come on Lina this is high school. Ever since I saw Bianca yesterday, I'd been thinking of myself as Lina and not Angelina. Zaine said he was going to call me Angel, I was a little worried. It was too soon to be starting all that again. I wanted it to stay in the past. My report had been signed, a few bad comments, but those were only in lessons in which I sat next to Zaine.

I don't know why but he made me laugh at the silliest things, even his stupid grins get me going.  I walked to school again; it weren't so bad I kept thinking about Bianca and how much she'd changed. She had to be anorexic. No-one was that thin and healthy. I wasn't being petty jealous, honest. She was actually skinny; I didn't want to bring it up, in case it was a sore spot or anything.

I'd wait till we'd reconnected again. It might be too late by then. Shut up Lina. We had an assembly this morning, everyone gathered in the gym. Sitting on the bleachers. I couldn't see Bianca or Zaine, so I chose the friendliest looking person and sat next to him. He turned to me I could easily read the expression on his face. It was the why-the-fuck-are-you-sitting-next-to-me look; I returned it with a shy smile.

"Hi I'm Angelina" I said, looking at his shoulders, for some reason I couldn't bring myself to look at his face. To look into his eyes.

I felt him stand up, I looked up and I saw him walking away, he moved to the row behind me and sat there glaring at me. Whoa, I was only trying to be nice. I felt the presence of someone next to me, on my right. I swivelled around and was face to face with a boy I've never seen before. He had dirty blond hair, with black ends. He had snake bites and a tattoo on his neck just behind his ear. He was scene.

I smiled nervously at him "Hi" I squeaked.

"I'm Jordan Mills, you must be Angelina Sheerwood" He said his voice soft which surprised me even further.

I shook his hand "Yeah" I looked at his exposed wrist and saw he had a luminous green bar going across it, it was gross. Why would anyone pierce their wrist? I made a mental note to stay away from this kid, he was weird. He sat back and watched me. He gave out a deep sigh.

"I know what you're thinking y-"

"No you don't" I said cutting him off. I hated people telling me what I was thinking and feeling it's my brain my body, I know how it works.

He grinned and laughed under his breath "Feisty. No I was just going to say, don't judge a book by his cover"

He turned back to the front to tune into the assembly. I was stunned; he'd been able to read my face so clearly and had the guts to admit it. I liked it. I smiled and turned to the front. Maybe I wouldn't stay away from Jordan Mills.

----------

Jordan turned out to be in my English language class. I was late; obviously I couldn't locate the class. I handed my report to the teacher. I stood there grinning at him, like an over excited puppy. I practically ran to the free chair next to him.

"Hello Jordan" I said my voice breathless and excited.

"Hey" He said nodding his head at me.

He picked up his pen and started writing something, I watched him for two seconds before getting out my pen and book. A white piece of paper landed in front of me. I jumped; snickering could be heard from behind me. I turned to see Zaine writing, but he had a large grin on his face. I turned back to the note and opened it up.
