I learned that Sam is in all of the same classes as me. It's been really fun with her and Will. I also made some other amazing friends. Even if I did have the entire school as my friends it would never make up to losing Laura. Yes, it's official. She came up to me herself and said it.
I tell myself I don't need her but I can't help but miss her.
I was just happy that the weekend finally came.
"Morning mother," I say. "What's for breakfast." There's so reply. "Mom!" I yell louder.
"She had to go to work early" says my brother Matthew.
"Dad?"
"Him too, someone important is coming to talk about them distributing their product in different stores."
I nod. Mom and dad always leave way early and come back really late. It's kinda lonely just Matt and I. Especially in this huge house.
I end up skipping breakfast and go back to my room. I see I have two texts. One from Sam and the other from Lauren. I can't believe Laura gave her my number. I ignore the hurtful words she just sends me and open Sam's.
I text her back. "Yeah you can come over."
"Great. I'll be there in five minutes."
I go down stairs to Matt. "Someone's coming" I say.
"Oh, Laura. I guess I should stop eating the peanut butter cookies since they're her favourite."
"Actually" I say. "You can keep eating 'cause it's not Laura. It's my new friend Sam."
He looks at me suspiciously. "Something wrong between you and Laura."
"No" I say flatly. He's about to say something else but the doorbell rings.
I run to it and open the door.
Sam has her mouth open. "This house is so big" she says as she comes in.
"Too big I'd say." I frown. "It gets really lonely when my parents are at work and my brothers is out."
We walk further into the house towards the living room.
"Ohh" she screams. "Are those peanut butter cookies!" My brother offers them to her and takes two-dozen. "If I had the chance to live off of these cookies only I'd so do it."
"Would you like a tour Sam?" I ask.
She nods because her mouth is stuffed. I show her my room, the game room, the library. We started eating ice cream and took photos in the photo booth.
These are all the things I do with Laura. Or used to.
"What's wrong?" Sam asks noticing my hesitation on moving forward.
"Nothing. I guess I just expected that when Laura said we'd be together forever no matter what she meant it. I guess she didn't."
"Forget about her" she says. "I don't know Laura well but if she says something like that and you guys are best friends, how could she leave you with a snap of a finger to a total jerk like Lauren? just remember I'm here. I volunteer as tribute to be your aid."
I laugh. Yeah it's only been a week but a really hard one and she's been there protecting me from and sly remarks Lauren and her friends were throwing at me.
Besides even though they both like triple chocolate fudge ice cream, love peanut butter cookies and have light brown eyes they are no where near the same because so far Sam hasn't left me for someone cool.
