BRRRING!
The bell rung, signaling the beginning of the day. Janett and Sammuel both stomped off in opposite directions, refusing to say bye.
"See you two at lunch!" Melody called out before heading out to her own first period. She just loved how those two could cheer her up without even realizing it.

The trio of friends currently sat at their table located at the back of the lunchroom. It was in a corner to the far right, right next to a window. It sat four people comfortably, and they had agreed on the spot at the beginning of their freshman year. Now that they were halfway through it, the spot had somewhat grown on Melody. Now usually, she would sit on the left bench, across from Janett and Sammuel who both sat across from her on the right bench, but apparently this morning's events made that more than awkward for the two.
"Hell no," Janett blatantly denied as Melody tried to get them to sit down.
"Guys, you've been sitting there this whole time. Don't let a silly joke get to ya!"
"I refuse to sit next to Jane, and making me is a violation of my rights," Sammuel whined. Melody rolled her eyes and sighed.
"Fine, one of you can sit next to me."
"I will!" they both volunteered, them instantly glared daggers at each other. If looks could kill at that moment, all three of them would be dead with everyone else in the cafeteria in critical condition. Sometimes she wondered how the three of them even ever became friends, considering those two got along like nutella and cheese.
"Screw off Sammy! Sisters before misters, asswipe!"
"Oh, so now you're sexist? How disappointing, Janett." This wasn't gonna turn out well.
"Ok, so as the official peacemaker of this group of law abiding citizens, I declare Janett gets to sit on my right!" Melody exclaimed. This earned a "whoopie!" from Janett as she plopped down next to her.
"But wait! There is more! I also declare that Sammuel get to sit on my left!" she proclaimed. Sammuel stuck out his tongue at Janett before sitting on Melody's left. It only took them about three seconds to realize how uncomfortable they were.
"This is too many people! I'm practically falling off here!"
"This is only meant for two people, Mel!"
"Wait guys! I have a solution," Melody said as she grabbed her tray. Wriggling out from between the two, she cheerfully walked over to the other side of the table and took at seat.
"There, all better!" she cheered. She let them take a moment to process what she just did, but didn't wait for their anger to surface. A certain someone had caught her eye.
"You sneaky little-"
"Hey guys, I'm sorry but you gotta yell at me when I come back. I'm about to put my plan into action," she interrupted as she quickly got up, leaving her tray and two baffled friends at the table. As she got closer to her target, her walk became a trot, and her trot became a jog. Of course, that jog never became a sprint. She could get detention for a week for running in the cafeteria, and she did NOT want that on her record. But soon enough, she got there and was able to catch him before he walked through the doors.
"Kiku! Kiku, hold on a second!" she called out. He instantly tensed up at the sound of her voice, with good reason she concluded, and slowly turned to her as if he was a small child who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar. By now she was face to face with the boy, and she had to admit she didn't think about how awkward it would be.
"So Kiku...." she began. He refused to look at her, and instead kept his eyes planted on the granite cafeteria floor. She decided it would be best to get to the point now and save the both of them from further embarrassment.
"Look, I'm really sorry about what happened last night. I just thought of it as a silly joke, but I didn't bother to consider how you'd feel about it. I've been feeling guilty since this morning." She saw the boy's eyes widen at this, and he finally looked up at her. She was glad she was making progress.
"So what I'm trying to say is, I'm sorry for being a bad host," she blurted out. For a second, he just stood there, staring at her in disbelief. She responded by nervously twiddling her thumbs. His cheeks began to turn a visible shade of light pink .
"I am also sorry. I acted very rudely in your house, and that is unacceptable. Please forgive me," he apologized.
"Of course I forgive you! I just hope you can forgive me?"
"I can."
"Great! Oh, and before I forget, I want to give you this as a peace offering," she reached into the shirt pocket on her uniform and pulled out a single necklace. Kiku eyed it suspiciously, apparently not sure what that was supposed to mean.
"Look, see what's on the end? It says 'bff'. That stands for best friends forever," she explained.
"I'm sorry, I do not understand," Kiku admitted. Melody playfully rolled her eyes at this and gave him an even bigger smile. Then, she gently grabbed his hand and pulled it towards her. He instantly tensed up, but slowly relaxed as she eased open his bawled hands and placed the necklace in it. He just stood there like a lost puppy, staring at the necklace like she had just handed him a beating heart. She had to admit, his clueless behavior was pretty cute.
"Here, I'm giving this to you," she cooed as she closed his hands over the piece of jewelery for him.
"Why?" he responded, cocking his head to the side. Did she have to spell it out for him?
"Because, all of my friends have one. I'm asking you to be my friend, Kiku Honda." She swore his eyes could've popped out of his head that very moment if he would've opened them any wider. This made her somewhat nervous. Had she says something to offend him? Maybe the gift was too cheap? Damn cultural differences!
"Um, well.... It's just I thought you might be lonely being from Japan and all and most of us have known each other-"
"Yes," he quietly interrupted.
"Wait, what?"
"Y-Yes, I would like very much to be your friend!" he announced a bit louder this time. She grew a smile that covered about three-fourths of her face, and he replied with a small smile of his own. She tapped her foot, for it was all she could do to not tackle the cutie right then and there.
"Ok then!" she cheered with a clap of her hands. She saw him silently put the necklace in the back pocket of his uniform pants. She grabbed a hold of his hands when he was finished, and she was positive his face turned about three shades darker. She pulled him over to the direction of the lunch table.
"Come meet the other two owners of my 'bff' necklace! You're gonna love them... hopefully?"
A/N: Hey guys! So this took me a couple of days to do, but I feel somewhat pleased with the results. But if you guys find anything you're not pleased with, please let me know. I love constructive criticism! Ok then, bye!
