It's your voice I hear when I am lonely
It's your smile I see when nothing goes my way
It's your laugh I hear when I am at peace
When it rains I remember how much you love watching the rain
When the sun rises and sets I remember how you are my sun
The moon reminds me of how your happiness shines through me
The ocean reminds me of the depth of your mind
The stars remind me of the sparkle of your eyes
You were the first woman I loved
You taught me to love unconditionally
I have only one regret about loving you
that we never had a chance to meet
I treasure every second we spent together
I gave you all the time I could spare
and some that I couldn't
I always remember some of the last words you told me:
"You were always there for me. I treasure those moments like a mad woman."
Though I thought I wasn't there nearly enough
You once told me to never place you above any woman I might marry
I will not close off my heart as I promised
You set the standard for all that wish to be ruler of my heart
I hope my seasonal butterfly returns to unlock the nectar only she can reach
You once asked:
"Do you not want to live with me?!"
and my reply was:
"I don't want to live without you but I will if I have to."
This poem doesn't mean I moved on
It only serves to help me cope with feels I could never express
You are unforgettable princess
My promises to you must be fulfilled
as my duty to my mission in life must be
I only hope against everything that one day I could fulfill that mission with you by my side
