In Need Of A Friend

Sitting in a room full of people, feeling so alone.

Sitting with a group of friends, and no one even knows.

These thoughts she thinks are killing her but no one ever sees.

The way she feels is trapped inside screaming at her.

She tries to tell, but all they do is say that she’s happy.

They don’t see the real her, the one that’s broken and unhappy.

They think that just because she’s smiling it means that she’s okay.

I don’t think they realize she’s just putting on a play.

Masking her true self because she’s afraid of what others will think.

When they find out the girl they thought was happy was actually depressed.

When they find out that her world was actually a mess.

A mess that they made with every negative thing they said.

A mess that followed her everywhere she went.

Because of social media and her family at home.

She couldn’t get away from it at all.

Sitting in a room full of people, feeling so alone.

Sitting with a group of friends, and no one even knows.

These thoughts she thinks are killing her but no one ever sees.

She’s broken and unhappy, she’s in need of a friend.

One that will comfort her and not just pretend.

Pretend like she’s happy and nothing was ever wrong.

She needs a friend to guide her to the right path.

One where she’s not broken, unhappy, and sad.

One where she won’t be afraid of what people think.

Because she has learned and turned her mess into a message.

She’s taken off the mask.

And opened up her eyes.

She was the girl that felt like she was alone.

But now she sees that all she needed was a friend to guide her home.

Sitting in a room full of people, she once felt alone.

Sitting with a group of friends, and now someone knows.

The thoughts that she thought were once killing her.

But not anymore.

For her broken and unhappiness has turned to nevermore.

She is no longer depressed.

She’s as happy as a peach.

Because that one person was just in reach.

She screamed out for help but not really with words.

Someone noticed and now she’s cured.
