20. complications in the common room

Start from the beginning

"Alright coach whats going on? We haven't done anything"

Raven says both disrespectful and respectful I don't even know how- he clears his throat and pulls out a large box

"You've done enough to earn these"

And pulls out a dark indigo  letterman, reading the back he says in a proud manner

"Miss Jennifer Richards"

And hands the excited brunette her Letterman, each jacket is handed out respectfully to their new owners and finally he hands amity hers she looks shocked

"But- but coach ben... I couldn't pay for one"

He smiles gently his glance for a second looking at me

"You couldn't but luz could- she came up to me after practice and paid off both in full.. beats me how she got six hundred dollars but she paid it in full"

I chuckle lightly my smile widening as amity looks at me shocked, shrugging I say quietly

"I repair and build- out of spare parts-  motorcycles in my mom's garage.. I only get fifty per every full bike. And before you go all pell mell on me coach I have a business license"

Amity raises an eyebrow to my slowly saddening face, looking down at the floor I sigh. Standing up I mutter a quick 'thanks' and head upstairs, thanking the week that it's Saturday morning. Sitting down on the bed I pull my backpack out from underneath the bed and pull out the several old family photos of me...mom and dad.. my thumb running over my dad's face. Wiping away the appearing tears I feel my cheeks suddenly get wet as I fail to wipe them away, hiding my face as the door opens and shuts I feel amity's hands cup my face and make me look at her

"Why are you crying...?? Who hurt you.."

Shaking my head no I look down but I'm suddenly looking at her again as she lifts my head up,

"Luz.. who hurt you.."

Looking down at the photos I panic as I see my thumbs mess them up slightly, swiftly pulling from her grip I flatten the photos, my tears flowing down my cheeks in hot streams my mouth unwillingly muttering

"No no no- luz you stupid idiot"

Hiding my face in my hands I feel the photos slip from my hands, looking up I see amity looking at them. Scooting down I rest my head on her lap my body curling into a ball,

"I-I miss him... every day- it was so sudden.. he taught me how to completely dismantle his Harley then build it right back up and he'd let me help him with his business when I was eight.. and one day- he was on the news.. he was in critical condition and went to the hospital.. and just as he got better he went missing and all I got was a note "I hope you finish that bike lu, I love you".. mom says he cheated.. but the look in her eyes says he didn't. That bike.. is still in pieces- but I promised my dad I'd keep on fixing bikes, even if it meant I'd see the note and realized I never picked up a wrench to it."

Her hands run through my hair gently, causing my tears to suddenly halt. Looking up at her I hold her closest hand to my face as I rest my forehead on her fingertips, looking at her through the slits her fingers make I sigh shakily.

"Sorry... it's just a bad day for me.."

Sitting up I pull my denkichu Letterman off her and during I lift up my already neglected MS Letterman, slipping it onto her I smile her lips pulling up into a smile aswell. Slipping my arms through the large sleeves I intertwine our fingers and kiss her gently, feeling so much better with her at my side. Parting from her I slide my arms out of the sleeves,

"Wanna go to my place until amber calls us asking where we are?"

She nods gently as I carefully put the photos back into my backpack and slide it bat under the bed, standing up I almost instantly snatch up her Letterman and pull it on my hands just barely able to reach the edging.

"I forgot that you're taller now.."

She giggles gently her arm wrapping around my waist as we walk out the door.
_____

Looking around the spotless shop amity right behind me looking ever so interested at everything in the room, looking at my dad's newly repainted candy apple red Harley I point at it

"There's dad's ride.. mom hates it when I ride it but I got my license early to run his business so she can't complain."

Her hand presses to the body of it her eyes staring widely at the bulky mass of the bike, and when she turns to face me her handprint stays visibly on the paint. Pointing to the unorganized mess at my feet I say disappointed

"And this.. is mine.."

She frowns at me, standing up she joins my side. Kneeling down at the recently polished parts the frame ready to get some wheels and atleast a stand, looking up at dads note pinned to the corkboard I point at the husky wrench kit

"Hand me the second to largest on the front- one of the small handled ones"

Her eyes light up excited to help, handing me the three fourths wrench I position the wheel on the front axel and carefully attach the wheel to it, looking at her my hands messing with the engine I wave amity forward. Kneeling down in front of me I instantly run both my pointer and middle down her cheeks the grease making battle stripes, doing the same to my face I say suddenly happy I'm building my bike finally

"Welcome to the crew am.. let's finish this long needed project"

Carefully placing our Lettermans on dad's Harley I slip on a grease stained longsleeve shirt, carefully I lower the heavy but small engine into the body and make sure its properly attached before adding anything else. With everything on the frame including gas in the tank I go to the upside down body, attaching and fixing LEDs into the body under the clear acrylic I bring it to the bike and wire the killswitch to the ignition, attaching an adjacent wire to the ignition aswell I kinda slam the body into it's locks. Pointing to the black leather seat I say quietly

"Care to do the honors am? All it needs is that.."

She lifts up the seat and brings it to the bike, hugging her from behind I explain how to put on the seat between kisses being placed on her neck. she sits down on the seat sideways as I pull away, putting my Letterman over her I hold up my hand

"Lets add another memory to the acorn tree"

Putting the key into the ignition the engine turns on beautiful- it's hum like music to my ears, putting her finger on a switch I say a bright smile on my face

"Press this when I switch to blacklights you'll LOVE IT"

clapping my hand loudly once the white lights shut off and the room is replaced with a purple tone, seeing amity turn the switch the body lights up in slowly rotating neon colors, her face lights up as she gasps in awe. Taking a picture of her on my phone then with my old Polaroid camera, the garage door opens and I hear a clap

"Mija- why do you have the blacklights on.. are you doing a photoshoot for th-..."

She looks at my bike which is now being turned off her words at a complete stop, pulling off the stained shirt as mom says quietly

"You.. finished it.."

Nodding I hug amity close her facd going slightly pink

"Without amity's help.. It probably would have never been finished and I'd probably have sold it to the scrapyard"

Hanging up the Lettermans I head upstairs and hand amity a thick leather jacket, slipping on my second jacket I ask happily

"Wanna take it for a spin?"

She nods swiftly soon realizing the meaning of the protective leather jacket, we head down to the garage, putting the bike in neutral I walk it to the road, sitting comfortably on the seat I pat behind me amity soon joining me

"Put your feet ontop mine... I don't want you getting burned by OUR accomplishment"
