It's far into the future. The precise year is unknown. Nakano Bushida is a hired Japanese assassin. Her past is unknown to even her. She had amnesia when she was 13 or 14. She forgot everything up to that age.
Currently, she is the stealthiest, wealthiest, most wanted assassin in the universe. I say universe because she sometimes travels to other galaxies to initiate assassinations and to collect money. As I said, it's pretty far into the future.
