a giggle escaped the brunette girl as she shook her head, moving the magazine away from her view and looking down at the boy "you seriously think that two different animals are the same?"
ricky lifted his head from nini's lap and rolled over on his stomach "they both know how to swim."
"a dolphin and shark both know how to swim, and they're different animals, babe." nini chuckled
"but aren't dolphins just gay sharks?" ricky winked
nini looked at him "really? you're quoting glee?"
"you know how much i love watching reruns of glee!" he smirked, pointing to her song journal
nini replied with a playful eye-roll "ha ha, funny."
he hummed, chuckling "i love you."
"i love you too." she whispered
the boy leaned in to bring her lips to his before the sound of nini's phone ringing interrupted them and he dropped his head down
"turn your phone off woman!" he exclaimed
nini playfully shoved him as she laughed "you're such a baby."
"kiss me and i'll feel better." he said leaning in but she put her hand up to stop him
"hold that thought, it's gina," she told him, answering the call and bringing the phone to her ear "hey gi, you okay?"
"hey neens..." nini's best friend's voice came through
ricky sat up and gestured for nini to put it on her other ear which she did for the two to listen
"hey, what's up?"
"so, i spoke to dani..." gina trailed off
ricky and nini glanced at each other "what happened?" the girl asked
"well, guess what? turns out dani and ej had a contract this entire time."
"WHAT?!"
"is ricky there?!" gina asked
nini glared at the boy who bit his lip apologetically
"yeah-wait-no, seriously, though, they were faking it this entire time?!"
"what is up with these relationship contracts?" ricky asked confused
"i don't even know anymore..." gina sighed "look-i'm in way over my head-more lies to make me believe that everything he told me was true? i-i don't know who or what to believe anymore..."
"gi, you have to talk to ej." nini said simply "it's the only way-"
"to get more lies?" gina questioned
"to get the entire story." nini corrected her
"i already got the whole thing from dani. he'll just say the same thing. and how he's changed and that he loves me and wants to try again." gina told her
"well, do you want to try again?" ricky asked
gina stayed quiet for a few seconds, ricky and nini waiting her answer
"gi-?"
"i-i don't know-i-" she exhaled deeply "i just want this whole drama story to be over."
"it can be, if you let go." nini said softly
"what does that mean?"
"i think she means that-well-" ricky took a deep breath "okay, for example, me and nini. to get where we are now-we let go of the drama and we focused on each other...on how we felt about it. we loved each other too much to let what we have slip away because of something so little and unimportant."
nini looked at the boy with a smile as her eyes lit up and she nodded "yeah..." she breathed before returning her attention to her best friend "and that's what we think you and ej should do."
gina took a deep breath "okay-i-i got it...just-what do i say? what do i begin with?"
"maybe 'hi'?" ricky joked before getting elbowed in the side by nini "ow!"
"funny, bowen." gina scolded
"we can't tell you exactly what to say because it wouldn't necessarily be from you gi. all we can tell you is to speak from the heart." nini told her
gina exhaled "okay...i'll call you tonight when it's done i guess..."
"good luck!" ricky exclaimed
"we love you!" nini added before gina ended the call after a faint bye "she'll be okay right?"
"you know this whole explosion wouldn't happen if you hadn't meddled?"
"but then gina wouldn't have figured out about the contract between dani and ej or that he still loves her and she wouldn't be going to confess her feelings rom-com style right now!" nini exclaimed
ricky sighed "god help our kids if they ever start dating."
nini giggled "kids then huh?" she asked with a raised eyebrow
he nodded "oh yeah, two of each." he smirked
"four kids?" she asked in disbelief
"what? kids are cute." he told her simply, leaning forwards for them to be closer
nini laughed "tell me that when you're the one who's gonna give birth to them."
ricky laughed before shaking his head "but seriously...i can't wait for us to have that."
nini beamed at him as she rested her chin on his shoulder for a few seconds "me too."
he kissed the top of her head shortly, making her heart swell as he folded his arms "okay, hit me with another this or that question."
