This is only the second time my brother's been shot . The first time wasn't as serious , one in the arm , he was fine in a few weeks . But this ... this might put him down for a while if he even makes it through .

I can tell my leg shaking was making Nas nervous because she put a hand on my knee and squeezed .

" I'm gonna go call Rina , see if she's okay " She said trying to read my face for a response . But it was blank . Too many things racing through my mind . Too much worry in my chest .

I had never really thought of what would happen if one of us got taken out . If it was me , no doubt Melo would unleash hell on them niggas but he would still keep up with the business . But if he was gone , I don't know what I would do . I couldn't do this shit without him . I wouldn't want to .

As for Racks , he'll get what's coming to him one way or another . Rather we're in Miami or not .

But we leave tomorrow . What the hell are we gonna do ? There's no way he's gonna be able to fly , he has to stay here a while . Fuck's sake I couldn't even think about that right now .

All I could think about was Melo , and slightly Karina . What the fuck was she thinking ? She should've known not to trust him . I get it this is my brother , and that's hers but what the fuck has he done for her other than almost get her killed ?

" Kaine where you at ? " I spoke as soon as he answered .

" We out lookin for them niggas " I figured hearing the wind blow in the speakers .

" Shit ight . Need somebody to clear the house before 12 come " I said thinking .

" Ask Karina or something . And you better hurry , somebody probably called them already "

" Ight hit me " I said hanging up then getting up to find Nas .

" You still on the phone with her ? " I asked .

She nodded trying to hear her but I took the phone from her anyway making her look at me like I'm crazy .

" Yo " I said into the phone .

There was a long pause . We were both equally upset at each other , I could feel it even over the phone .

" Hey , how's Melo ? " She asked softly .

" We don't know yet they haven't said anything but I'm sure he'll pull through . Listen , before the cops show up , we need someone to wipe the house out . You know , make it look like just a party gone wrong before they start finding shit . Kaine and the guys are on the lookout right now . " I explained .

Another long pause .

" You hear me ? "

" They haven't told me anything about Racks either and right now I'm the only family member here . I can't just up and leave " She said back sounding agitated .

" You know what ? Bet " I hung up on her .

Fine . I forgot that there was a time when she didn't exist in my world .

I couldn't believe he was being so close minded . I wasn't trying to not be here for him right now but if it wasn't literally a life or death situation , he should know I would pull through .

Just then , Jaime's phone rang . And already knowing why , my face got hotter than usual .

" Okay ... Yea I gotchu ... Nah imma just bring Lani with me . Ight I'll let you know when it's done " She spoke before hanging up .
