Cats and sleeping

Cats can sleep between 13 to 15 hours per day and some can sleep around 20 hours. When you think there are only 24 hours in a day, that's some napping!

Kittens and older cats tend to sleep the longest. Indoor cats tend to sleep more than outdoor cats.

Generally speaking a cat will naturally spend his waking hours during the night and sleep during the day. This can differ between cats and obviously the environment they are accustomed to.

The 'predator' has long gone from most domesticated cats, however they still have the instinct to hunt,  creeping around in the shadows, stalking, pouncing and attacking. This could be anything from your ankle to the cute feather toy you just made! and this takes up energy!

Cats tend to move from dozing to deep sleep and back to dozing again. The deep sleep only lasting for about 5 minutes with dozing for anything up to half an hour.
