POST-SCENE: "BURY ME, I'M NOT YOUR FRIEND
NOT BROKE, JUST BENT..."For as far as Kendall can tell, he certainly isn't alone, and he isn't entirely loveless.
Well, not exactly.
Not only will he always have his family—my superhero mom and supertastic Kit-kat—but he also has James, and Logan, and Carlos. He loves these boys so unconditionally, so differently, so immensely—though still never enough, it seems—and if he allows himself to hope just a little bit more, perhaps they also love him back.
Nevermind if it comes in chanceless conversations, spare silences, and sloppiest seconds. Nevermind if it comes christened in someone else's cursive name, at the receiving end of a frostbitten dagger, or from being a favoured travelling freakshow hoax. Nevermind if Kendall's had enough of his once-in-a-lifetime, while Carlos is always searching for infinite ways to go above and beyond it, and Logan has explosive galaxies revolving and flourishing with it, and James has the most prodigious Olympus dreams along with the rest of his and Logan's ahead of them, so he certainly doesn't need any of Kendall's.
His once-in-a-lifetime has already been long-lost to someone else, anyway—to winning in weakness, and losing in love.
They all deserve the attention more than Kendall does, and he's used to it. He doesn't want to be used to it, but apart from untempered selfishness and running out of things to say, what other choice is there left? Last choice boys don't have to be cheapshot martyrs...but this?
This is just the price of being myself.
Kendall Knight has three best friends in the world, and he's never felt more lonely when he's with them.
