Everyone has had something they were insecure about.
Maybe it was your stomach.
Or your waist,
or eyes,
or hair.
Whatever it is, you don't like it.
You wish it was different.
But do you really believe that?
Or is it just what others are telling you you should believe?
Society says:
You must have a flat stomach.
You must have a big chest.
You must have a big ass.
clear skin.
small waist.
small nose.
big lips.
big eyes.
long eyelashes.
small forehead.
The list goes on.
So if you are not what is considered, "perfection" then you are told to hate yourself.
"Workout more"
"Eat less"
"Get your hair done"
"Shave your body"
"Wear makeup"
"Cover your pimples"
"Nobody's gonna like you if you aren't pretty"
And if you don't follow their rules, they call you names.
"Pig"
"Ugly"
"Gross"
But there's another way.
You don't have to do what they say.
You are your own person.
You control your own life.
So instead of looking in the mirror and asking, "what do I hate about myself?"
Ask
"what about me, is nice?"
Self love is a whole different type of love. Self love is one, of what I think, the most important types of love.
If you love yourself, everyone else's opinions start to matter less.
If you love yourself, you smile at you see in the mirror.
It's a lot easier said than done, yes, but hear me out.
Go to the mirror and look at yourself.
What do you like?
And if you say "nothing."
Look harder.
Don't think about if your friend likes it or if some boy likes it.
Do you?
Still no?
I'm going to help you.
See I used to feel the same, and sometimes I still do.
But realizing that you only have yourself to make happy, is what helped me break through.
Insecurities are caused by what others say.
If you never heard anyone's opinion about what you should look like, do you think you'd be insecure?
You are worth whatever you believe.
I can't make you believe something, if you don't yourself.
So tell me, what is something about you, that you are glad you were born with?

when the words start to overflow
Poetrythis is a poetry kind of story and it's just a bunch of chapters each about a new thing. It's more of a peek inside my mind than a book, but nonetheless still just as powerful.
