I haven't heard from Issac all weekend, not since the morning after the formal. Which is weird, he always texts me back. Maybe not always straight away, but he does.

I took off my makeup then headed to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face.

When I went back into my room I got into some pyjamas and grabbed my phone to call Issac one more time. I had been calling him all weekend. I hope his dad didn't lock him in the freezer, especially not all weekend.

"Hey Issac, it's me Sof. Where are you? I haven't heard from you all weekend. I hope you're okay. Call or text me whenever you can." I say into his voicemail before putting my phone down.

I quickly open my window for Issac. It was like a metaphore so he knew I was there for him. And well if he things have gone bad, like I sense they have, he can come home.

I walk to Scott's room and knock on the door. "Hey, um. I'm gonna crash now. I'd appreciate it if you aren't ridiculously loud." I call but he doesn't answer. I roll my eyes and mutter "Dick." Under my breath and head back to my room.

When I go back into my room, I jump. Issac was sat at the end of my bed in the dark.

I turn on the light and shut my bedroom door. I notice Issac was sad almost immediately, yet he didn't have a single bruise on his face like he normally did.

"Issac what happened?" I ask sitting beside him at the foot of my bed. "I don't want to talk about it. Can we just go to bed?" Issac asks and I nod. "Of course." I say and go into my closet to hand him his pyjamas.

Whilst Issac was in the bathroom, I close the window and lie down in bed.

When Issac comes in, he turns the light off and closes the door before climbing into bed beside me.

We lie in silence, I was worried about Issac and wanted to talk to him but didn't want to push him. He always tells me when he's ready.

I turn on my side to get some sleep when Issac starts talking to me. "He died. We got into an argument and he died tonight. I didn't do it but he's actually dead." Issac says and I turn back to face him.

"Who?" I ask and he sighs. "My dad." He days and my eyes widen. "How are we feeling about it? Are we sad? Happy? Relieved?" I question whilst being unable to tell his emotions.

"I know how you feel." He says and I sigh. "Which I understand." He adds. "Well, how do you feel?" I ask and he shrugs. "He wasn't always a bad man. I've just been waiting and waiting for him to go back to normal, he just never did. I guess im confused and relieved." He says and I nod. "That's understandable." I say and smile sympathetically at him.

That night, Issac slept with his head on my shoulder. I had stayed awake until he fell asleep just listening to him talk about his dad.

The next morning I woke Issac up and asked him if he wanted to stay in bed all day or go to school, to my surprise he said school.

I had a shower quickly and then blow dried and straightened my hair. I wore blue jeans, a black tank top and Issac's grey hoodie jacket which I found in the closet. I put on my converse and did very light makeup.

Once mom had left Issac and I went downstairs and made some breakfast. "Bye." Scott yells whilst running out of the house.

After breakfast, I made sure I had my stuff before Issac and I went outside and got on our bikes.

Issac and I normally meet up halfway to school where the trails join up. But on the nights when he stays over, we ride together, even when it rains. That's probably how I've gotten sick far to many times this year.

When Issac and I arrived at school he shot off to Lacrosse training straight away.

I went to my first lesson and as quick as I sat down I got called to the principal's office along with Jackson.

Jackson went in first so he could get back to training as soon as possible. I sat outside the office nervously. Why was I here? I'm a good girl. I've never been in trouble and now im nervous.

I got especially more nervous when I noticed a police deputy letting Jackson out of the principal's office.

"You're Sofia right?" He asks and I nod. "Come with me." He says opening the door

"Hey Sheriff." I say sitting down in an office chair. "Hey Sof, I'm sorry to do this to you at school." He says and I raise an eyebrow.

"You aren't in any trouble I just want to ask you some questions about Issac." He says and I nod slowly. "Uh, thats okay. Why do you want to talk about Issac? Is he okay?" I ask the Sheriff and he just nods.

"We got told that you were Issac's best friend." The sheriff says and I nod. "I am." I say smiling slightly.

"Did you know Issac was abused by his father?" The Sheriff asks and my face drops. "So you did. Did you ever tell anyone?" He asks and I gulp harshly.

"He told me not to. He made me promise. He probably wouldn't of told me, I just sort of knew. He always had these black eyes or like cuts and bruises. He played it off on Lacrosse for ages. But I watch the Lacrosse games and there was nothing worthy enough to give him those injuries." I say and start playing with the rings on my fingers.

"When we wanted to study, I asked if we could do it at his house because you know, Scott and Stiles are always at ours being loud and annoying. But he was always trying to put it off." I say sighing.

"Issac always gave into me very easily. So sometimes, not all the time we went to his house when we needed to proper study. I never bumped into his dad whilst I was there, except for the last time I was there." I say and sigh.

"We didn't keep an eye on the time. It got late and well Issac's dad had returned. We both rushed downstairs when we heard him. Issac was acting very odd and just wanted me to get out of the house, I'd never seen Issac like it." I admit.

"I had covered for him and told his dad that Issac was tutoring me in French. Issac is really good at french and well Issac just kept pushing for me to get out and it didn't make sense to me until I got home, where I put it all together. I asked him about it and it was the first time I saw Issac cry. He begged and begged me for hours not to tell anyone. He made me promise and I felt so bad that he was crying so I made the promise." I say and the Sheriff nods.

"Do you think Issac would lash out at his father?" Sheriff asks and my eyes widen. "Is that what this is about? You think Issac killed his dad?" I ask and the Sheriff looks at me confused.

"I heard Issac stays with you sometimes." The Sheriff says and I nod slowly whilst continuing to play with my thumbs. "Yeah he does." I say. "But my mom or Scott don't know, please don't tell them." I add and he nods.

"How often does Issac stay with you?" Sheriff asks and I shrug. "Issac works nights on the weekend for his father. Worked. He normally stays between 1 and 3 times a week. Whenever he gets into a bad fight with his bad." I say and the Sheriff nods.

"Did you hear from Issac over the weekend?" He asks. "Well we went to the formal on friday together, he stayed over and I didn't hear from him till last night. He had just got in a fight with his dad and ran to my house by the looks of it. He was all sweaty but we didn't really talk. I assumed him and his father had gotten into a bad fight." I say and the Sheriff nods.

"Well I think we're done here." The sheriff says gesturing to the door. "Issac won't get in trouble will he?" I ask and the sheriff sighs. "Don't worry about that for now." He says and leads me out of the office.

After 2nd period I heard a rumor, well hopefully it was a rumor. Issac was arrested. I rush out of school as the police car was pulling away. I notice Issac's little face and he seemed slightly worried.

"What the fuck are you looking at?" I say to Scott and Stiles who are looking in my direction. "Shit Sof." Stiles says. "Fuck off." I say and I roll my eyes and walk back into school, ignoring the whispers off of everyone and the attention I carry on with my day.
