After getting their books and putting them in their lockers, Karen and Dorinda headed to Math class. Upon walking in, they saw their other two best friends Jacky and Tam in the class as well. They sat right in front of them.

Karen and Doe met Jacky and Tam in the 2nd grade when Karen and Doe saw Tam getting bullied and Jacky beating the girls up. They helped Jacky and from that day they've been best-friends ever since. They bribed their parents to let them follow each other to junior and high school and for almost 10 years it's just been the four of them.

"Whew! Thank God you two are here. Tam and I thought, we were stuck with Lady Tremaine all by ourselves." Jacky said.

"I'm this close to getting my schedule changed because I refuse to deal with this heifer and her shenanigans early in the morning. Y'all already know I have an attitude until at least noon." Tam explained

"We already know. But let's just hope she's had an attitude adjustment over the summer." Karen said

As soon as the bell rang, everyone was met with the voice of Mrs. Dawns.

"If you're in this class, I assume that you like a challenge 😏😉

"If you're in this class, I assume that you like a challenge 😏😉. If you think that I'm here to babysit, coddle, or breastfeed any of you, then this class is not for and I suggest you leave now."

Nobody moved, so Mrs. Dawns continued.

"Good. Now, this is senior AP Trigonometry. You all are juniors which means that being in this class means you are not as dumb as you look. But that doesn't you will have it easy."

"That means that I'm the teacher, and you're the student. You will not approach this class with the mindset that you are even one ounce smarter than me. You will come in here, you will learn and you will pray that you will even pass this class with a C." She slyly stated

"Now are there any questions?"

"Lord, give me peace to not knock this lady head between the desk drawer before the day is over" Doe mumbled as her girls giggled and told said amen.

"Uh excuse me, young lady. Is there something you want to share with the class?" Mrs. Dawns asked Doe.

"No, there isn't Mrs. Dawns." Doe replied

"Well obviously, you must since whatever you said has your friends laughing like their at an Eddie Murphy comedy show."

"I just don't understand why you feel the need to try and scare or intimidate us? That's all. This isn't the military. This is high school. All we want to do is show up and pass the class." Doe explained

"Well Miss-" Mrs. Dawns paused

"Cole." Dorinda replied

"Miss Cole. I assume that it's very hard to scare you. Am I correct?" Mrs. Dawns asked

"You would be." Dorinda said

"I would also assume that you're trying to challenge me." She said sitting on the edge of her desk

"That's not what I'm trying to do. I'm just stating the obvious. Look you may scare everyone else in this class, but I'm sorry that won't work for me." Dorinda said leaning back in her chair

Mrs. Dawns realized that she and Dorinda will be butting heads like two bulls all year so she decided to play a little game. She smirked at Dorinda before getting up and going to the whiteboard.

"Okay class, since Miss Cole feels that she's not one to mess with. I want her to do something for me. Now this will determine if I will be giving a test on Friday." Mrs. Dawns said before writing a math problem on the board. She then turned and looked at Dorinda.

"Now while everyone else will be enjoying the rest of the week free of no homework, you Miss Cole will be at home solving this math problem. Now if you can finish them tonight, then you can join the rest of your classmates in freedom. If you choose to not complete this problems, you will not only cause the class to have a test on Friday, but they will also have a quiz every morning. The choice is yours Miss Cole. You have about 5 minutes to make your decision." She explained to Dorinda

Dorinda looked at Mrs. Dawns thinking to herself that this teacher has no idea what she's getting herself into by first, talking to her like she's her child and two, should she even play in her little reindeer games. She looked at her girls trying to figure out what she should do.

"Whatever you decide to do Doe, we're behind you 10 toes down." Jacky reassured her

"Don't let her make feel any type of way. Remember what Goddy taught you" Karen said placing her hand in her shoulder

"Girl, if you want me to put a spider web in her weave and sugar in her gas tank, just say the word and I got you." Tam said

"Tam please." Jacky and Karen said giving her the side eye

"I'm just saying." Tam said

"Thanks. I love y'all. But I'll be okay. I've made my decision."

Dorinda got up and made her way to the whiteboard.

"Mrs. Dawns I made my decision. Look, I'm not about to let you feel that you can punk me in front of my friends or anything. That will never work. But I will say this. My mom sent me to this school to get a good education. That's what I've maintained to do. She also taught me to stand up for myself against anyone. Teachers included a long as I don't get disrespectful. With that being said, I won't accept your challenge and you can do whatever you want to do. Kick me out, fail me or even give me a hard time this year. That's on you. But I'm not falling into your trap."

The bell rings and before everyone made their way out of door, Dorinda looked at Mrs. Dawns and said, "if this makes you feel any better. The Intergral of the Cosecant Squared of X Times The Derivative of X is Equal to the Negative Cotangent of X plus a Constant."

Mrs. Dawns looked shocked thinking how did Dorinda know that off the top of her head

Dorinda noticed the shocked expression on her teacher's face and instead of making her look dumb in front of the class she just kindly said, "Have a good day Mrs. Dawns. I look forward to the rest of the school year." She walked out with her girls and went on about the rest of her day
