4.13| The Vicious Zombie King Chen Hua

"You don't believe me?" Chen Hua circled his arms around the young man's waist as he pulled him closer, his head leaned down to whisper, "I can kill him with a lift of my finger if you wanted me to."

Zhi An stared back at him with a blank gaze, before an incredulous expression replaced it, "N-no way! I don't believe you. Also, stop being so close to me!"

Although Chen Hua's words were merely a whisper, the Zombie King's sensitive ears could catch them. His eyes darted to the two figures standing at the furthest of the group. He could detect that the shorter man who was currently hugged by another person was a human with a mere healing ability. His eyes frowned in disgust.

A weak human? Tch. I can't believe he could still survive until now.

His eyes then darted to the figure standing behind the shorter man, who was leaning down his head. As if the human felt his gaze, he lifted off his head to stare back at him, and the Zombie King felt his whole body petrified in fear.

H-how is another Zombie King here?! His heart was shaken to the core.

He's also far stronger than I am..! How is that possible?!

His complexion paled. The Zombie King who thought that he was a predator amongst preys had his situation turned 180 degrees. He didn't know that a predator who was much more powerful than he was, was blending in with these weak humans!

I should leave! I should quickly escape!

Zhu Liwei who was readying his stance to fight against the Zombie King was suddenly stunned when the Zombie King fled in the next moment. He was so sure that they wouldn't survive today, but who would have known that the Zombie King would leave immediately after killing off five of their men.

Also... why did his expression change when he saw Chen Hua? Zhu Liwei mused to himself. His eyes narrowed in thought as a trace of suspicion emerged.

He knew that zombies would never fear humans; they were just incapable of having such emotions. While Zombie Kings were slightly different from normal zombies, they still retained such characteristics. Of course, such emotions only appear when they fight against a stronger foe.

But the Chen Hua that he knew of, had a similar rank to him: Rank 6, Strengthened Body. So why would the Zombie King fear the man if he didn't fear himself?

There's only one explanation that a Zombie King would fear someone.

If that person was also the same as him. A Zombie King.

As that realization dawned on him, Zhu Liwei's heart shook. His eyes, which had been glaring at Chen Hua with hatred, now took on a coating of fear.

Let's calm down.

For now, it's merely an assumption.

Until I confirm it, I shouldn't do anything that might raise his attention.

Meanwhile, the rest of the team members were stunned at the Zombie King who ran away with his tail tucked between his legs. Such a sight was completely shocking to them after witnessing his ruthless appearance. However, when they realized that the danger was out of their lives, and they could survive to see another day, everyone cheered in happiness.

"We survived!!"

"Fuck, I thought I'm gonna die today!"

"I was ready to sacrifice myself, but who would have thought the the Zombie King would let us off!"

Similar conversations rang throughout the compound.

When Chen Hua watched as the Zombie King disappeared from his sight, a satisfied smile formed on his lips. His head bent down to nuzzle his nose on Zhi An's neck.

I should let that zombie live for another day. He's being so attentive to my needs. Mhm. Chen Hua thought as he breathed in the young man's scent.

Such an intimate position caused Zhi An to freeze, his face blushing in embarrassment.

"Y-you—!"

"You smell good, don't worry." Chen Hua chuckled, raising his hand to sweep away some of the young man's scattered hair. But his hand froze when he saw a letter on the back of Zhi An's ears.

"You think I'm worried about that? Stop touching my hair!" The young man's lively voice rang out as he admonished Chen Hua, not knowing that the other man had already halted his movements long ago.

"There's a name..." Chen Hua's vague voice rang in his ears, and Zhi An perked up his ears to listen.

"What did you just say..?"

"There's a name behind your ears..."

"Oh? Really?" Zhi An raised his eyebrows in surprise. He remembered that the stranger's name that was carved on his skin could possibly be the name of his soulmate. Excitement boiled in his heart, he couldn't wait to see it for himself. "Tell me, what's the name?"

"...Nangong Hua." His baritone voice slightly trembled when he pronounced the name but Zhi An didn't notice the change.

"Eh? Nangong Hua?" Zhi An whispered the name in his lips, a perplexed expression appeared on his countenance.

I don't think I've heard of that name before...

Chen Hua knew that Zhi An wouldn't know anyone with such a name. He's unlikely to comprehend the significance of such a name. Chen Hua, on the other hand, was extremely familiar with the identity of that name.

It was his name.

It was his surname before his mother married Chen Ling's father.

"Zhi An." The man's low and hoarse voice rang in the young man's ears. His arms trembled slightly, exerting more strength to monopolize the pliable but tough body within his embrace. He lowered his head onto the other's neck, a deep chuckle full of relief was apparent in his tone.

Zhi An turned his head to look at him when his name was called, "Yeah? What's wrong?"

"Thank you for appearing in my life."
