The Only Exception

Chapter 2

He just said okay and we started playing. We were clashing in the midlane when I died again for the 5th time. Tumawa ulit ito. I was already so pissed because I did not even kill him, not even a single time.

"Ang duga! Hindi namamatay!" I said pouting.

"Dika ka kasi marunong magbadang!" He, again, laughed. Nakakairita na.

"Shut up! You're probably doing something para macounter lahat ng attacks ko!" I ranted.

"Of course, I'll counter your attack! That's the purpose of clash?" He said.

"Hindi maduga ka lang talaga!" I said but then he just laughed at me. We played for two hours at sa lahat ng laro namin ay puro talo ako.

"Sorry, Curns, better luck next time." Pang aasar pa niya.

Bumusangot ako, I sighed in defeat. "Alam mo, tangi?" I said but he cut me off.

"Tangi-na ko?" Sabi niya, continuing what I was about to say.

"Oo." Sabi ko naman saka muling bumuntong hininga. "Why can't I win against you?" I asked.

"Magaling ako eh, " at muli na namang napuno ang tenga ko sa mga halakhak niya. "You can't make me bent down to you." he added.

Like he's so sure that I will never win against him. Not in this lifetime. Saglit kaming parehong natahimik.

"Gabi na, matulog ka na." He suddenly said put of nowhere.

I shook my head, as if he can see me. "Ayaw."

"May pasok pa bukas.." maliit niyang sabi, tila inaantok na. I also heard him yawned.

"Bakit ikaw? Inaantok ka na?" I asked saka inayos ang bed ko.

"Hmm, di pa." sagot naman niya.

"You sound like you're sleepy." I added, humiga na rin ako, dahil alam kong ano mang oras ay makakatulog na ang loko.

"Hindi pa," his voice was giving up already, hindi pa lang kasi aminin. "Magkwento ka nga." He suddenly requested or more like bossed.

Napakunot ang noo dahil dito. "Ano namang ikekwento ko?"

Tumihaya ako, nakapatong ang phone ko sa tainga ko, my hands were playing my pillows.

"Hmm, kahit na ano, kahit anong gusto mo."

Nag isip naman ako ng pwedeng ikwento kahit na wala namang interesting sa ikekwento ko.

"Do you remember when you found me two years ago?" I asked.

"Hmm," he only answered me, with mumbles that I couldn't understand.

"How did you found me?" Matagal na yung tanong sa isip ko. Hindi niya naman kasi sinasagot noon kapag tinatanong ko siya.

"I saw you sneaking at your verenda." he casually said.

"Ah kaya pala, Alam mo ba, wala naman talaga akong pupuntahan nung gabi na 'yun. I was so sure of leaving but I wasn't sure where I was going. Plano ko rin hanapin yung mga relatives ko, hoping that they would accept me, or if not, maybe stop schooling. Iwill try to work na lang muna so I can provide for myself. Hanggang sa kaya ko na tustusan ang pag aaral ko. I sound stupid, right? Maganda na nga yung kinalakihan kong buhay tapos gusto ko pa kumawala?" I let out a chuckled. Tumahimik ako saglit, only to hear a deep calm breathing.

Tss, tulog na agad. Akala ko ba hindi inaantok 'to?

"Tangi," marahan kong sambit, waiting if he will answer but his breathing was the only thing I can hear from him. Naiiling akong natawa.
