Ryan's sorrow took over him and he walked out into the night sky; silently crying. Wilfred stood behind him, but he didn't see the look of sadness on his face.

Instead, he saw him embracing the memories of the love they shared.

Ryan looked up to the sky and began to remember when their love began.

(Start song)

(Ryan)
Once upon another time
Our story had only begun
You chose to turn the page
And I made choices too

Once upon that other time
We did what we thought must be done
And now we have no choice
We do what we must do

We love
We live
We give what we can give
And take what little we deserve

Wilfred stood close to him, and he started recanting his memories with Ryan.

(Wilfred)
Once upon another time
I knew how our story would end
And maybe I was wrong
But now the moment's gone

We're it still that other time
I'd make time itself somehow bend
But now I'm not that strong
And time keeps moving on

(Both)
We love
We live
We give what can give
And take what little we deserve

Wilfred and Ryan looked upon each other and took each other's hands.

(Both)
We love
We live
We give what we can give
And take what little we deserve

They let go, but still stayed close; looking into the moonlight sky.

Once upon another time

~

Wilfred walked closer to him and pressed his hand on his shoulder. When he felt him, Ryan's sorrow took over once again, and he went back into the basement.

The dog man followed him and saw him sitting on the couch; weeping.

He tries to reach out to him again.

"Ryan-"

"Don't!"

He lightly shews him away.

"Please, don't touch me."

Wilfred stood back, but he stayed very close to him.

"I'm sorry this is happening to us."

Ryan lifted his head to him.

"You know?"

Wilfred never thought that his life would meet its end so sadly, but he couldn't lie to the man he loves.

Ryan saw him nod, with tears in his eyes.

"So this is how it ends?"

"I'm afraid so, my love."

Ryan looked away. His sadness grows as his grief overwhelms him.

"I remember, on the night we declared our love, I hoped that one day we would spend the rest of our lives together."

He stands up and walks to the other side of the room.

"But now, it's never going to happen."

Wilfred came over and stood next to him; lightly took his hand.

"It still can."

Ryan lifted his head to him. He looked at his fiancé ever since he found out about his cancer.

Now fully facing him, Wilfred takes his hands.

"Ryan, there's something that I want you to do for me, and I know you'll make it very special."

"What do you want me to do?"

Wilfred squeezed his hands tighter.

"I want you to sing for me, on the back porch of the house, for one night."

Ryan would always agree to sing for his fiancé, but because of all the grief of his coming death, he just couldn't bare it.

He turned away in despair.

"No."

"Just one night, Ryan. One song. That is all I ask."

"Why should I?" Ryan asked. "You're going to be dead soon, and singing for you is just going to give me more grief. I won't do it. I don't owe you anything."

When Wilfred heard this, he felt betrayed. He had never been rejected by anyone, even his own fiancé.

The dog man stared off into the window by the staircase; reflecting on his own life.

"I never thought my life would end so tragically. I had hoped, as my dying wish, I would hear my true love sing, but he chooses not to, despite his grief over my coming death."

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

"I don't think I will see the light of day tomorrow, and I don't plan on it."

He turns back to him.

"Help me through this sadness, and do this kindness for your fiancé, or I will vanish into nothingness forever."

When heard those words, Ryan was confused and fearful.

"What are you saying?"

He looked at his fiancé, and he knew he meant it.

Ryan was shocked. He felt his heart beginning to break, as if he was going to perish from a broken heart.

He felt betrayed.

"How could you? After all that we've been."

His grief grew into anger and hate.

"Who are you?!"

"I am your future husband!" Wilfred shouted.

He grabbed him and shook him, furiously.

"I'm am dying, Ryan! Suffocating here in the dark! Give me breath! Give me life! Sing for me, or you shall never see your beloved fiancé again!"

"No, you can't!"

"Oh, but I can. A dog as powerful as this, believe me, is capable of anything."

Wilfred released Ryan, but left him visibly shaken.

He had no choice but to agree.

"What am I to sing?"

"One song, written by me."

"Then, what happens after?"

The dog man took out the finished manuscript.

"You'll have to find out yourself."

He holds it out to him.

"You have tonight to decide, but don't take too long."

He hands him the manuscript, then lifts his face towards his eyes.

"I may not live tomorrow."

He lets go and goes upstairs. As he walks up the stairs, he hums the song that he wrote, which brings even more grief to both him and his fiancé.

Ryan sits on the ground and looks over the song. As he reads the words, he starts sobbing.

This was the most critical decision he had ever made, and it was going to change his life with Wilfred forever.
