"Hey, you should shut your mouth", Eren said stern as he got up in Floch's face. Floch's claims caught you off guard, and you couldn't help but gape slightly, feeling utterly speechless. Marco was about to join Eren, but Jean held out his arm, harshly stopping Marco dead in his tracks.

'Who knows what lies Mabel had fed him. Probably convinced him that she was nothing but nice to me, but I was a manipulating, backstabbing bitch who stole her love'

What hurt the most was his claims that you were ecstatic she died. Of course you didn't particularly care for her; you had a good reason not to after all. But never once did you wish for her death. You actually felt sad for her once you realized she died alongside the rest of the new recruits. No one deserves to go like that.

"Eren. Deep down inside, I bet you think you're always in the right", Floch said, scowling at Eren to match his death glare. "That's why you never gave up in the end. Just like a brat that won't listen". You were getting properly frustrated with Floch antics, your hands balling into fists that had your nails digging into your palms. You barely noticed Marco walking up to you before he wrapped his hand around one of yours, stopping the shaking. You looked up at him, his expression telling you Floch wasn't worth it. You took a deep breath, relaxing your fingers.

"Eren, just leave him alone", Mikasa said and put a hand on his shoulder.

"Mikasa is the only one who behaved like an adult", Floch continued.

This had you annoyed again. You barely even did anything other than cry by Armin's side. Floch probably only remembered the part where you jumped him though. You sighed frustrated.

"At least she gave up in the end"

'Oh no, he did not just say that'

Mikasa let her hand fall from Eren's shoulder and looked forward with wide eyes. Armin didn't know about that part, and hearing it worded like that; That his best friend gave up on him,- probably hurt him. You glared at Floch again, yanking your hand out from Marco's hold and started stomping towards him without breaking eye contact.

You were just about to give him a proper push when Jean got in the middle of you three. His hand hit you harshly in your chest as he reached out to separate you from Floch.

"What's wrong with you guys? Floch. Let's not do this during a funeral for our fallen comrades, all right?", he said, with a low voice, trying to deescalate the situation. You and Floch continued to stare at each other, but his expression turned more neutral. Your expression didn't change much, but you calmed your breathing.

"What's done is done, so let's just drop it", Connie insisted, stepping away from Sasha.

"And you guys... You didn't stand up to your superiors. You didn't even stop Eren, Mikasa and Y/N. I guess except you Marco. All you others could do was watch. Medals for what?", Floch asked with his arms out to the side. "A funeral for who? You guys better start telling the truth when you go to enlist more recruits. That way you won't get cowards like me joining by accident. What the hell are we supposed to do now without Erwin?!", He asked again, too loud for comfort. Every other soldier in the room was spectating the ruckus you guys had started. "Because even fodder like me... I get that I'm completely expendable, but... Even fodder like me... has a right to decide if it's worth dying for", he said with a quivering voice, looking down at his hands.

You were quiet now. Speechless, really.

"Floch is right", Armin agreed eventually. "Commander Erwin is the one who should've lived", he said sad, and you turned to look at him with a hurt expression. You felt so bad for him, so helpless. "I'm not the one who can turn this situation around..."
