Heather

I  have been working for the whole week. Luca is well behaved for the most part but he did get cranky around dinner time. I made him some noodles tonight, my cooking skills were somewhat limited but most five-year-olds are okay with what I make. Gabriele asked me to work late tonight and I didn't have lots of college work to do. Tyler was also working late like he usually does so my choice was easily made.

Luca was sitting on the couch watching a cartoon in his pajamas, I looked at him studying his face. He looked so alike to his father except for his eyes. I heard Gabriele's car in the driveway. The door unlocked a few minutes later. Luca jumped up and hugged his dad, Gabriele looked worn but nonetheless, he picked Luca up, kissing his forehead and ruffling his hair as he set him down.

The awkward situation we had last week flashed back to me when he fell on me because I bumped into him. He was pressed against me, skin to skin. I shook off that image. I shouldn't be thinking about this. I haveTyler.

I stood up and turned off the television.

"Hi, I'm going to tuck him in quickly and then get dressed for my date." He smiled and sauntered away, Luca solemnly followed him upstairs. Date? I frowned and could feel my stomach drop.

I was feeling strange. He was bound to be in a relationship, I mean look at him 6"1, dark and handsome. I went into the kitchen to pack away the leftover dinner. Gabriele came in, his hair was damp from a shower and he was dressed casually. Dark jeans and a button-down shirt.

"I need your help with this." He said with a grin while holding up a pair of cufflinks. I looked down at them.

"I can usually do them myself, these are a bit different" I took them from his hand, our skin grazing softly against each other, he looked up at me and I think I flushed pink.

I put on his cufflinks for him in a hurry, he nodded in thanks before he went back to his room. I cleaned up a bit more and headed upstairs to make sure Luca was asleep. I peeked into his dark room and nothing was stirring. From his soft breathing, I could hear he was fast asleep.

I closed the door but when I turned around there was a sweet smell drifting around in the hall. I inhaled deeply the scent. It was Gabriele's cologne.

It smelled like...warmth. I walked back downstairs where Gabriele walked to the front door about to leave. He stopped and turned around, for a moment things just stood still. He frowned lifting up a pair of keys.

"I forgot to tell you, you can use the minivan in the garage to pick up Luca in the afternoons. Here." He walked to me giving me the keys I thanked him and he left for his date. I slumped down on the plush chair in the living room.

What is wrong with me?

He is a sexy man but I needed to get a grip on myself. I love Tyler and I shouldn't be thinking like this, especially not about my boss. He is fascinating yes, other than that he's just my employer.

Gabriele

I was sitting on a chair moving around uncomfortably. I was currently on a date with Cherize-a woman that worked with me. She was a beautiful blond with blue eyes. I couldn't shake the awkwardness of the date.

"So I hear you have a son, where's his mother?" She was blunt, very blunt. The previous question was about my previous sexual encounters, which I didn't answer.

"I don't like talking about her." I tried to say with a smile, she tapped her nails on the table, it was beginning to irritate me. I don't even know why I agreed to dinner with her. I was beginning to think my mother was right-I wasn't a good judge of character.

"So what do you do in your free time?" I was relieved by her question.

"When I have the time I go rock climbing and bungee jumping, exploring with my son. What do you do?"

"I like to shop mostly and hang out with my friends." I frowned, she must be what... 26,27, around my age and she still talks like an airhead, which I know she isn't since she works with me as a finance analyst.

"I think I should get going." I signaled for the waiter to bring us the bill.

"My place or yours?"

"What?"

"Where are we taking this, your place or my place?" She didn't get it that I wasn't really interested. I wasn't desperate -yes frustrated, but not at all desperate.

"I'll drop you off at your place and then I'm going home." Her face turned into a scowl.

I paid the bill and did as I said, she wasn't very happy about that arrangement.

I was eager to get home, it was about 10 pm. It was early for a date to end but the sooner it did the better. I also saved her life, since I was so irritated by her I would hang her up by her own hair if I could.

I rushed home. When I gave Heather the keys to the minivan I couldn't help but stare at her. It was like things froze for a few seconds. She is gorgeous. When I came home every night this week I couldn't help but wonder what she was like when she wasn't a nanny, what she liked and didn't like.

I unlocked the door, opening it, the lights were dimmed, Luca was fast asleep when I left him so he would still be asleep. Heather was sitting at the island in the kitchen when I entered. She had glasses on and was going through a child psychology book. She looked up at me, I smiled at her since she looked cute with glasses on. Cute? What did I just think?

"Sorry, I had to catch up on a chapter but the rest of the chores I had to do are done. " She took off her glasses and ran a hand through her hair.

"It's fine. Where do you go to school?" She looked at me curiously.

"Waterford University"

"I also went there, but that was back in the day."

She turned her head to the side studying me intently.

"I don't mean to be rude but..how old are you?"I smiled at her politeness, way better than Cherize's nonexistent manners.

"I'm 29." She nodded, she was about 23 from that I remembered her CV said.

"Why do you ask?"

"It's just that..nevermind. I have to get home, Tyler must be worried about me." She hurriedly shoved her books into her bag and hurried out of the door. I stared after her as she bolted for the door, strange. I shouldn't have asked the initial question in the first place since my curiosity was too overwhelming for me to contain.

She is my nanny, well Luca's nanny and there are boundaries. I shouldn't even look at her like that. I made myself a cup of coffee and went to my room to undress. When I came out I heard screams from Luca's room. I ran to him flicking on his light urgently.

He sat up straight and tears were streaming down his face, he shook as he cried. My nerves calmed a bit-it was just a nightmare he had.

I hugged him tightly stroking his hair.

"It was just a dream big guy, you're alright, you're fine." He continued to cry.

"I... dreamed about...a....spider eating me." He looked terrified, I continued to hug him and tell him that it was all a dream. He was afraid to go asleep again since that spider might come back. I stayed with him the whole night to make sure he didn't have another nightmare.

He hasn't had a nightmare in about a year, something was going on with him.

My priority is with Luca, that's the main reason why I couldn't be thinking about Heather like I was, the other reason being that she has a boyfriend and she's in love with him.

I need to nip this little stupid flame of mine. I wasn't thinking with my brain that's for sure. It's a professional relationship that is all that is going to be.
