the next week or so was a lot of investigating into deviancy cases. y/n's desk was piling high with paperwork, and the detective was one file away from snapping. connor and hank forced her to do desk duty while her ankle healed, despite her telling them that the injury was incredibly minor. the days following y/n's injury were filled with glances and hesitancy between y/n and connor. the android found himself gazing over at y/n's desk during the day, earning several eye rolls from hank.

after a long day of sorting through files and paperwork, y/n left work to go back to her apartment. waving goodbye to her co-workers, y/n stepped out into the city. it was rainy, and y/n hadn't brought an umbrella that morning. a chill set into the young detective's bones, and she decided to take a hot bath after she arrived at her apartment. setting the temperature on the bath, y/n released a deep sigh and began removing her blouse. the world began to slow as she stepped into the warm embrace of the water. washing off the week's sins, y/n allowed herself to reflect on the past month of work. connor was the first individual to pop into her head. y/n stiffened. the detective had been around androids for years now, but she's never seen one like it. the way he looks at her when he thinks she isn't looking, the way his fingertips hover over hers when handing her a pen. y/n shakes her head, clearing the thoughts of the handsome robot. what was she thinking? is there any way connor could be... different? all this talk of deviancy, and yet, the android investigating them is clearly stranger than any android she's ever come across.

y/n finishes her bath and steps out of the bathroom in a robe ending at her mid thigh. the past week full of overtime had really been hard on her.  resting on her couch, she intended to watch an old show, but instead drifted off into sleep.

  ...

connor climbed the stairs of y/n's apartment, leaving hank to wait in the car. knocking at her door, the android waited patiently, looking like a puppy waiting for their owner to arrive. the door opened to reveal a groggy detective. connor scanned her, and what a sight for sore eyes. the detective was fitted in a robe loosely tied at the waist, allowing one to view the valley in between her breasts. the robe ended at her mid-thigh, leaving one to imagine the rest of the picture. connor blinked twice and tried to ignore way she looked with mild bedhead and mascara slightly running under her eyes.

y/n lifted a hand to lightly scratch the back of her head, causing the base of the robe to rise. connor realized that while y/n was certainly an attractive woman, the real beauty lies in her unique humanity. the rise of the robe expose a small patch of stretch marks on her inner thigh. connor, ever curious, wanted to search for more oddities. he found a scar on her knee, chipped nail polish on her toes, except for the pinky, which was too small to house any color. he noticed a birthmark on her elbow, the curve of her eyebrow. he noticed the protruding collarbones, the gentle curve of her pinky finger, the frizz in her hair. she was overwhelmingly and inexplicably human.

"connor, it's so late. is there something you need from me?" y/n groggily mumbled. connor stared at her a moment before replying, recovering from the split second spent analyzing, causing a flurry of system malfunctions to arise.

"y/n, there's been a homicide by a deviant at the eden club, the suspect is at large. lieutenant anderson is waiting in the car." connor managed to recover in time to respond.

"eden? isn't that the android sex club or something? jeez... connor, let me change so i don't get mistaken for one of them," y/n turned and threw a smile over her shoulder. connor gave his best smile, causing y/n to grimace for a second.

"connor... we gotta work on that."

...

the abrasive neon lights of the club managed to rouse y/n from her half asleep state in the back of hank's car. eden was something y/n had heard of, but always felt like some sort of abuse, especially when some of these androids were going deviant. the female detective couldn't lie to herself, these androids had reasons to snap. the people who found themselves here, especially the men, were especially crummy. the lack of real consent in the equation made y/n's stomach curdle. the frown that adorned her face was also on the face of hank as they exited the car. connor had his usual stone-faced look, but this time he appeared to be a little bit more determined, almost like he had something to prove to someone.
