Chapter Seven : Retail Therapy on rainy days

Start from the beginning

"It's your favourite colour," Victoria pointed out.

"And it looked good on you too.  Will is going to freak out when he sees it on you."

"Okay, okay," she laughed and shook her head with a smile on her face as she hung the blue dress back up.  "I'll go with the pink."

"Perfect," Victoria grinned as Evelyn and Kate paid for their items and left Victoria's store, promising to hang out with her soon since she wasn't going to Kenya.

They also made their way to a camping and hiking store as Evelyn needed some new hiking shoes and got some items for the trip that was coming up in a couple of weeks.  She was really excited to go back to Kenya as she was anytime she went to Africa with William.  She also bought some bug spray knowing they would all need it.

Evelyn was happy that Kate was going to make it to Kenya with them.  William had asked her if it was okay and she said yes instantly to the idea.  Seeing as Eric wasn't able to take the time off - it was nice to have Kate.  She was thankful that they had grown close over the years and were practically like sisters.  The two would even tell others that they were sometimes.  They both came to other with practically anything and they didn't feel odd about it either.  The past is the past and both Kate and Will had moved on.

Their most favourite people were joining them on this holiday.

Both the girls had also bought some clothes for the trip, seeing as you can't wear a Victoria Beckham dress out on a safari or Dior high heels or have a Chanel handbag.

It was raining today but the two didn't mind.  They had decided to end their shopping trip by going into Ladurée for some macarons.  Each buying a 12-piece box full of different flavours.  Evelyn also bought a box for her parents, knowing her mum's obsession over the treat.  She also got a piece of rose pound cake to eat whilst they were there.  Both girls bought a separate macaron to eat there Evelyn buying a salted caramel one and a Marie Antoinette one.  They "clinked" their macaron's together, laughing at the cheesiness and then took a bite.

"This is so good," Evelyn mumbled as she ate hers.

"Agreed.  And so is this rose pound cake."

"Ohh I have to try that," Evelyn said and took her fork and let out a small moan in delight at the rose treat.  "You are right, that is good."

Evelyn had to admit that even though alone time was nice at times - she did get quite lonely when her boyfriend was away.  Especially at night when she turned off the lights and got into the comfortable down comforter blanket that surrounded her like a cloud.  She always sprayed Will's cologne on his pillow and cuddled up to it as a way to be closer and wore his shirt.  It was something that sadly, she had gotten used to over the four years.

"How've you been?" The brunette asked the blonde sincerely making the blonde stop for a second.

"I've been all right, yeah," she told her taking another bite.  "But er - whenever I'm alone in our apartment that's when it hits me that he's not there.  Y'know?  And then I get lonely.  It's silly.  You'd think I would be used to it by now and not care."

Kate reached over the table and squeezed her small hand in a comforting way.

"Having feelings, even if they are lonely, means you care.  And I know Will feels the same way.  If you ever need anything though - I'm always here for you."

"Thank you, Kate," she smiled kindly at the brunette.  "Same goes for you too.  Eric's also in the military so if you ever need to vent, watch rom-coms with or anything just let me know."

Over the years the girls constantly reminded each other of these things.  It was always nice to be reminded.  To show someone that you care.  That they are going through the same thing.

"So what did you think of Theo's new girlfriend?" Kate asked getting the subject off of their relationship.

"She seemed really nice.  Don't know her that well yet but based off first impression I have a feeling she will fit right in.  What did you think?"

"I think she seemed nice," Kate commented but it seemed more like a question.  "It just takes longer for me to warm up to people, I guess."

"Well, maybe we can call her sometime to get together?  Without the boys.  We could call all the girls in the Bennett family and make it a girls night or day.  Or go on a holiday together?"

"That would be fun," Kate agreed, loving the idea.

Kate had always been a bit shy, always having a hard time making girlfriends right off the bat.  Evelyn was a wee bit more outgoing - but still had her quiet moments.

Evelyn and Kate planned it all out as they sat in the booth of Ladurée.  It was going to be a spa day, of course, and it would be planned out before their trip to Kenya.  She was looking forward to their time away - spending some quality with William and their friends.

It was just what they needed.

sorry this isn't a super long chapter like my other ones but I felt like this was a good place to leave this chapter.  We are getting closer to the end of part 2 only 2 more chapters left!!  I decided to make it nine chapters instead of ten.

Not sure when I will update again - it will either be in a week or two as I finish my statistics course July 31st.  Even though this was shortish I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless.  & enjoy these non-drama chapters because in part 3 onward I'm going to be doing a lot of time skips and you may or may not like what I have planned for a lot of it.
