Annabeths POV

Moving to a whole new city can be scary. Leaving all of your friends, saying goodbye to your favourite parks and restaurants and all that jazz. But for me... well let's just say this is probably the best thing that has happened to me in a while.

My old school was called SunnyView high, in San Francisco. I was 'popular' you could say. I was captain of the cheerleading squad, head of the student body and everyone wanted to be my friend. Some might say my life was perfect.

But to me, I hated it all. "Well why didn't you just stop?" You might ask. Ha, don't you think that if I could, I would? You see, if I were to just stop being popular, I know that I would get bullied hardcore. And I already go through enough of that at home. According to my evil step-mother Helen, I am the actual spawn of Satan.

Whatever I did to that woman I have no idea. But not that long after my mom left, my dad brought home his new girlfriend Helen. She has two boys, Bobby and Matthew who are about 10. I however am 16, and my step-mother definitely sees me as a roadblock in her relationship with my father.

Anyways, enough with my life story. The reason I'm so excited about moving to New York is that I can start fresh. A new life where I can be myself and express the things that I love to do. Like reading and learning about architecture for example.

I would LOVE to design buildings when I'm older. It has been my dream since forever. I remember one time my mom took me to Rome when I was little. The architectural works of art there were just incredible. I knew from then on that's what I wanted to do.

We are currently on our way to our new house and I couldn't be happier. My whole life was about to change and I was ready to take on this new life. It's not everyday you get a chance to restart and really find who you are supposed to be.

"Welcome to our new home!" My father exclaimed.

We pull up to a light blue 2 story house in a nice neighbourhood. There are people walking their dogs and children playing on the streets. Everyone seems so happy and perfect. I already love it.

I walk in the house and immediately run upstairs to claim my new bedroom. I choose the one at the end of the hallway. Nice and secluded to I don't have to deal with my rowdy step-brothers. Seriously, sometimes those boys are too loud for their own good.

The room is small, well, smaller than my old one. But that doesn't matter to me because it's enough space to put all of my things. The dark hardwood floor provides nice contrast to the soft grey walls. There is even a small window at the side of the room.

Soon the movers pull up to the house and start unloading my things. The first thing I do is bring all of my boxes in and set up my desk, bed, bookshelf and dresser. After all, unpacking would be pointless if I didn't have anywhere to put all of my junk.

After unpacking most of my books and clothes, it started to heat up. I decide to just open the window and let a bit of fresh air in. I pull back the curtain and twist the window opener (A/N you know that thing right?!).

As I look up, I notice a boy sitting at his desk with his feet up strumming his guitar. He was looking slightly down so I couldn't make out his entire face, but I saw he had messy black hair that looks like it hasn't been brushed, but not in a bad way. As if sensed he was being watched, he looks up and I'm met with a pair of startling sea green eyes.

I jump up a bit and I feel the heat rising to my cheeks. He just grins and waves a bit. Of course being the awkward human I am, I smile and wave back and quickly shut the blinds.

"Annabeth come down for dinner," my step-mother shouts from downstairs.

I never thought I would say this, but thank gods for Helen.

I make my way downstairs thinking of the boy I saw through the window.
