"we, uh, we got in a fight, mom. we haven't really talked in a while."

"oh, okay, vinnie. you seemed to really like her, so that's why i was asking. and if we do see her i promise dad and i won't scare her away, okay? i can't make any promises about your brother though."

vinnie chuckled, looking at the time on his watch. "oh shit, momma i gotta hit the road, okay? i'll see you there in a few days, i love you."

"i love you too vin. pops says hi."

"tell him i said hi too, i'll see you guys soon."

"bye, vin."

vinnie hung up the phone, taking a breather before  heading back into his room. mia had rolled his suitcase near the door and left his backpack next to it with a little sticky note that said "good luck! we love you!" on it before she left.

thomas peeked into the room, "you ready to go?"

"yeah, i am," vinnie said, turning the lights off in his room. "let's go."
