Even though there were a million directions in which the begrudging and forced reunion could have gone, Y/N didn't expect it to go in the manner it had actually occurred.

Laid to waste, the planet did not even remotely look like how the Cosmic Trio had left it all those years ago. The atmosphere was hauntingly eerie. There was nothing to indicate that the land had once been bustling with life. The three exchanged horrified looks with each other, growing increasingly concerned as each second passed by.

"Where's Fury?!" Carol bellowed as soon as she slammed the door of the Avengers Tower shut behind her, the rest of her teammates in tow.

"Not here, obviously. How in the heck did you even get back here?" Natasha scoffed. She looked weary and beaten down but that did not stop her from being snide with her former teammates.

"Oh my, is that our beloved Y/N behind you?" the Captain raised one of eyebrows mockingly, "Got tired of running away from us?"

"Watch that tone, Rogers. I won't hesitate to cut your tongue out if you keep speaking to her like that," Valkyrie spat out, visibly enraged and barely holding herself back. Y/N put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. They didn't come here in enmity. They came here in solidarity. They came here for Nick.

"And who are you to talk to me like that, Brunnhilde? Her bodyguard?"

"Her wife."

Soft gasps filled the meeting room.

"You got married?" Natasha asked disbelievingly.

"I think that's none of your business, Romanoff," Y/N firmly stated. She was tired of being overlooked. "We came here because Nick paged Carol to come to Earth immediately. And now we can't find him anywhere. So can you please keep your goddamned animosity for me aside and cooperate with me for once?"

"What in the actual fuck?"

"Yeah, that sums it up quite accurately, I think," Natasha nodded, swiping away all the holograms from the LED - screen table.

"Hey, hey! Is anyone home?" everyone's attention gets snatched by a new voice appearing through the front door security camera, "it's Scott Lang, we met a few years ago? At the airport? In Germany?"

"Now who the fuck is that guy?" Valkyrie asks while the man continues to babble while looking at the camera.

"He's at the front gate," Natasha exclaims softly, wide-eyed.

Steve lets him in, and the man stumbles inside, full of frenetic energy. Valkyrie sighs exaggeratedly and Carol furrows her eyebrows in confusion at the man in front of her, while their teammate snorts under her breath at the reaction of the other two.

"Hi guys! Steve, Natasha," he nods to the two people standing in the front. Panning his eyes to the rest of his audience, he gets pleasantly surprised to see Y/N standing there. "Y/N? It's so nice to see you again! I thought you had gone away for good."

"More like she ran away in cowardice," the buff blonde mutters under his breath, refusing to let go of his snark towards his former teammate as easily as the redhead beside him.

The former Sakaaran catches his words and throws one of her knives at him in retaliation. The captain narrowly avoids one of his eye from getting stabbed as Natasha quickly grasps his arm and pulls him away from the knife's trajectory.
