We woke not to the sound of the boar, but to the sound of war. Screams came from outside telling us to surrender or to face death. While I was puzzled Maya seemed relatively calm considering our situation. She told me that she recognized the voice, it was the chief of the other tribe. Maya was startled by his sudden appearance and was frozen while I had no idea of how to do to solve this problem. The chief was not very patient with us and after about ten more minutes of frantic knocking he forced his way in. We cowered in the corner beneath his fierce gaze. He roared at us and told us to stand or face our death that very moment. Being humans, hopeful creatures, we got up and followed his strict commandments. We were to not speak, not defy, not even breath loudly. It was torture but at least we were alive. At least we had something. At least we had hope.
