1 week later
"He is doing better than we expected, especially this early on" the doctor says as we both stand at the window looking at Aiden.
"What injuries was he diagnosed with?" I ask holding back the tears.
The doctor looks through his file.
"Five broken ribs, punctured lung on the right. He has also broken his arm in two different spots and in one spot in his leg. The punctured lung was swollen, hence why he is on life support since he's struggling to breathe on his own. Also a possible brain injury but we won't fully know until he wakes up"
Tears stream again. "But the good news is that he had a good chance of making a full recovery and if no problems in the brain, an even bigger chance. He truly is one of the strongest people here" she says.
I smile.
"That's my Aiden" I say through the tears. The doctor leaves and suddenly I'm all alone in the hallway of the intensive care unit.
"I would do anything to be sitting in there with you baby" I whisper, putting my hand up to the glass and wiping away my tears.
"It's going to be okay"
