i made my way to usnavi's house to have dinner before we headed to the clubs, i'm always excited for food, especially when abuela claudia is the one cooking it.

i entered the house, immediately taking in a whiff of the delicious scents.

"smells great, abuela."
i said smiling as she led me into the dining room.

"thank you, y/n. the others will be here in a few minutes, usnavi is just upstairs getting ready for his date with you."

i felt my face heat up as i giggled nervously,
"he told you about it?"

"he tells me everything sweetheart,"
she chuckled.
"let's just pray he doesn't mess it up, you and me both know he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed."

"i know that's right!"
i laughed.

"is that so?"
said usnavi causing me to jump.

"jesus usnavi! you came out of no where! my heart stopped no joke."
i said catching my breath.

"so did mine."
he said looking me up and down.

"get a room you two!"
said daniela as she entered the dining room, carla and cuca behind her, as per usual.

"oh trust me.. we will."
i mumbled lowly.

"what was that?"
nina asked, smirking as she sat down at the table, kevin and vannesa following.

"nothing.."
i giggled.

"food's done!"
abeula exclaimed, putting plates full of different foods in the center of the table.

"looks delicious."
said carla practically drooling.

"so nina.. how've things been at stanford?"
asked usnavi, attempting to make small talk.

he doesn't know yet.

"oh, well.. bad news, we didn't pay this months tuition in time and—"

"actually nina,"
kevin interrupted.
"i called the school and they told me that this month's deadline hasn't passed yet."

"but—"

"so what's really going on, nina. why are you home?"
he interrogated.

"can we not do this now dad i really—"

"no, now of all times is perfect. tell everyone why you're home!"

"i'm home because i dropped out!"
she snapped, jumping up out of her chair.
