GOUACHE?!☁️

Hello besties, so around a week ago I received my first ever gouache paints so I decided to experiment around with them...

Btw can y'all guess what I painted from the emoji in the title? XD yep, that's right

DON'T WORRY if you can't tell what that purple mess is, that's what the emoji is for!

And I have no idea why I skipped the simpler sky (jk it's bc I thought I would use up a lot of white paint- and I did) and went straight ahead for the colourful ones, but today I painted another, much more successful sky!

Ok ngl, I was pretty happy with it until I painted the shadows underneath the clouds, in an attempt to make it more obvious that it is sea underneath it, but of cOURSe this just backfired and the too striking shadows made the viewing angle look really off??

THis weird but also strangely kind of nice one.

But I'm pretty conflicted, cuz on one hand I think this does elevate the piece and make it sort of look like a Studio Ghibli, story fantasy vibe, unlike the realistic vibe I was going for.

However, after some comfort from my mother I realised I should cut myself some slack since this is only the second time I'm trying out gouache and the second time I'm painting clouds so😂😂

Honestly I'm not one for self praise but this does look pretty bomb if I (my "self love" aka vanity) can say so myself👀

ANYWAYS, yes from the grid I bet you can tell this is just the first in a four part series. Now let's see when I zombie out of the dead next! *shoves the pile of uncompleted works into my closet*

I've been yabbering on for long enough, but I actually wanted to give some of my thoughts on gouache. It's so friggin similar to watercolour but more opaque,, so that's super fun! I think I will really enjoy it :D

Alright, I'll stop jabbering. Greetings and salutations but the opposite way around I guess!!
