I was very protective of my sister. I wanted nothing but the best for her. She usually got good grades so I was confused as to how she was getting C's.

"I don't know" she said focused on the road.

"You don't know? Is it Camden?" I asked referring to her little boyfriend.

He was a nice guy but I feel as though he got in the way of what was important to my sister. She had plans to attend California State University. It was a long way from North Carolina but she was headstrong about attending.

"No. Look Cedes it's not that big of a deal" she rolled her eyes.

I shook my head.

"I'm not trying to come down hard on you. I just want what's best for you babe" I said softly.

"I know. Even with a C I still got into CSU. I'll be out there in like three months. That's if you still want me to move in" she said once we got closer to our parents house.

"Of course I want you to move in. It's plenty of room."

"Really?"

Samarah edged into the driveway of our family home. Before she could get out of the car, I placed my hand on her shoulder.

"Sammy you're my everything. I'm super excited to have you come out to Cali and live with me" I stated.

She gave me a small smile.

"Okay" she said happily.

We got out of the car, gathered my bags, and headed into the house. When I got inside I noticed my parents in the backyard.

"Mama daddy" I called out walking into the backyard.

"Mercedes!" my dad called out running over to me.

We embraced tightly. He placed a kiss on my forehead.

"Welcome home sweetie" he said pulling away from our hug.

"Come here baby" my mom said pulling me into a hug.

I embraced her back taking in her scent. My mom always had the best perfume collection.

"Hey mama" I said rocking side to side with her.

I was most definitely a mother's girl while Sammy was a daddy's girl. I pulled back from my mom to notice that my parents were grilling. It was a nice day out. My dad loved putting steaks and burgers on the grill whenever the sun was out.

"Come get a sausage link baby girl" my dad said waving me over to the grill.

I walked over and looked at the grill seeing burgers, links, and steaks cooking. My eyes shifted over to the potato salad and macaroni salad sitting on the table. Instantly my stomach began turning. I loved both salads so I had no idea why I felt nauseous.

"Um save me one. I'll be back" I said speed walking to the downstairs bathroom.

When I got in I began throwing up chunks into the toilet bowl. It was coming back to back. I was out of breath once the vomit stopped. I rarely ever get sick let alone vomit. Maybe the bagel I ate earlier at the airport didn't sit right with my stomach. Either way I would enjoy this time with my family.
