Melissa's POV

My eyes remained glued onto the medium sized house that I would call home from now on and to say that I was not a panicked, nervous wreck would be a lie. I already miss my familiar, cosy, comforting home that I had left behind, probably forever. My old home holds so many memories of my childhood that I couldn't help but to cry as it disappeared from my view as we drove away. I left everything behind, from my childhood friends to my very loved home. But to say I felt upset with my mom for this would be a lie, I could never in fact, I think my mom deserves the world for everything she has ever done for me as her child.

"Mel Honey, are you okay?" The sweet, motherly concern laced voice of my mother interrupted my thoughts.

I turned to my mom with a smile and enthusiastically nodded," Yep. I'm just taking it all in. It just feels a bit weird, you know?"

She smiled at me understandingly," I know, Sweetheart and I really don't blame you. It feels strange for me too."

"But we'll be okay, right? We have each other." I reassuringly smiled.

"You have that right, Kiddo especially with a kid as you. You are the best daughter any mother could ever wish for." She cooed at me.

"Awe, I always knew you loved me, but I never thought that it was this much." I smiled with big puppy dog eyes and a pout.

"Now, you know what would actually make me love you more?" She innocently smiled at me.

"What?" I raised a suspicious eyebrow.

"If you and I could start unloading the car so we can finish and go have lunch. I'm starving." She innocently smiled.

"And here I thought you loved me, Mom." I playfully pouted with sad eyes.

"Me too," She grinned before opening the car door and slipping out of the cool, confined space of the car, leaving me pouting behind her," Come on, my little drama queen." She called from outside of the car before closing the door behind her.

Letting out a silent huff, I opened the door and obediently walked out of the cool vehicle and into the scorching, merciless sun. I almost winced at the burning almost stinging sensation of the warm sun as it brutally tried to grill my once cool skin. So this is how steak feels on a grill, huh?

"Mel!" My mom's loud commanding tone filled my ears from a bit afar, making me turn in the direction I heard her, just to find her amused smile as she folded her arms to her chest," Come on!"

"Coming!" I called out before closing the car door and almost sprinting to the door. The moment I reached my mom, I felt tired and dehydrated. The soft giggle of my mom had me turning to her with a playful glare," How could you laugh at your own daughter when she feels like she's having a hot flash?"

"Oh, I don't know. Why?" She feigned thinking before breaking into laughter as she walked in through the already open door.

I playfully rolled my eyes as I straightened up and followed after my mother. My eyes couldn't help but to drink in the interior of my new home even though it had nothing special. The floors were made of cream white, squared tiles while the walls were white. Nothing stood out to me, meaning, Mom and I had a bit of work to do in making this house feel cosy and homely for us.

"Hey Mel! Come see!" She excitedly squealed. Following her excited demand, I walked to her and followed her line of sight into the empty room." It's a bit bigger than the one you had, right?"

My poor mom, she's trying to ease her guilt for moving us. My mom is too sweet, I mean, I hoped she would feel less guilty by now.

"It is." I faked an excited grin that shakily tugged at the corner of my lips, just so she could feel less guilty. I really can't stand that she feels this way.
