What Happened to the Sound?

Silence is deafening,
who turned off the sound?

Like the world without color,
in silence, I drown.

You wouldn't think that silence is loud,
but what happens when you take away noise?
take the music away watch your ears poise.

They're straining for sound,
a breath of wind,
but this emptiness is deafening.

If this continues I might go mad,
locked up in this windowless room where no voice can penetrate,
wishing this silence would please abbreviate.

Can feel the thud of blood in my head,
a constant companion I'm learning to dread.
I'd welcome a strain of music divine,
but the sound is lacking, my hearing declines.

When will it end?
Send me the date,
release me from silence before it's too late.
