This year was absolutely miserable for Shay. Her parents got divorced, her boyfriend dumped her, and worst of all, her cat died. She was living through her worst nightmare, and the only thing she had the energy for was playing a block game with her friends and occasionally streaming it.

"Shay? Are you ready?"

"Yeah, sorry. Give me one second. I need to do a stream intro."

She unmuted her mic and tried to speak with enthusiasm. She hoped it would project so that her chat believed her.

"Hello! Hi, chat! How is everyone? Today I'm streaming Minecraft with Dream!"

Dream was one of Sapnap's friends, who Shay met a few years ago. He was the first one Nick bragged to about Shay, introducing them just a week into their relationship. They clicked instantly, poking fun at Sapnap and George for being immature and fighting.

"We're going to one of the mods from one of my Youtube videos and trying to beat the game. This is Minecraft but gravity changes every minute!"

"This is going to be so hard," Dream comments.

"Yes, you are not wrong. I'm spawning in."

The stream went on smoothly, the pair burst into laughter every time the gravity changed, messing up their gameplay. After a two-hour stream, Shay decided to end.

She leaned back in her chair and sighed.

"You okay? It was a good stream, Shay."

"i don't know if I can do this much longer."

"Streaming? Or something else?"

"All of this," she admits, gesturing her hands around the room even though he couldn't see her. "I'm tired of faking it. Pretending that I'm happy, when I'm not."

It was silent for a moment as Dream tried to think of something to say to comfort her. "You could always take a break. From streaming and everything."

"You know I can't. I'm saving for college."

She'd taken a gap year before college, to focus on streaming and to see what she really wanted in life.

"I'm sorry. Have you decided what school yet?"

"Yeah, you're going to be really excited. I'm going to UF."

"Wait, no way. That's only a few hours away from Orlando. We should totally meet up!"

She smiled, "yeah, we should. I'm excited to get out of Texas, it's been a hard year."

"Yeah," Dream muttered. He knew that Shay and Sapnap had a pretty bad breakup but he didn't know the details. Sapnap wouldn't tell him— or George for that matter.

"Nick is coming to live with me. Just on a trial basis. I just wanted to let you know."

She froze in her chair. They'd agreed not to talk about him, and it was the first time she'd heard his name in a year.

"That's... nice. I'm happy for you. And him. You're going to have a lot of fun together."

"Thanks," he spoke softly, trying to gauge how she felt about him bringing up Sapnap.

"I'm gonna go. I— um— have some work to do and edit and yeah you get it. Bye."

She left the call before Dream could say bye, leaving him alone in the call. He figured it wasn't that great of an idea to bring him up, it's only been a few months.
