LUDICROUS DREAMS
Awake from your ludicrous dreams, my dear,
Enough of flowers and the joy and know
The withered face of earth bedight with woe;
Your eyes unfetter from the pointless cheer
And see the pangs of truth, the pain and fear
That feasts upon the heroes' blood, and lo!
The worms of death the carnage seems to hear
And coming for the corpses row on row.
The hungry vultures on the trees do jeer
Singing from the thrones, "o, Death is near,
And at the end of this so tragic show
No happy ending would be waiting here;
Welcome to the lie called Truth and so,
Awake from your ludicrous dreams, my dear."
