It was warm outside, some might even say sweltering.

Everyone was out and about doing the less difficult chores in the shade because of it. Dale was on the RV with Rossi, shooting the breeze and keeping watch while Morgan was chopping some firewood in the shade. Penelope and Amy sat down near the water, scrubbing out some pans that had been used to make their measly breakfast.

Spencer was busy too helping Carol hang up some of the damp clothes that hand just been scrubbed down.

But even with the ease of the day the camp was weary, a heavy atmosphere taking hold of them as Shane stomped around the camp after essentially declaring the group in the city dead. Spencer couldn't help but think it was a dick move on his part.

Lori seemed almost oblivious to it all though as she sat down to cut Carl's hair, never mind the fact that there was more important things she could be doing right now. It's no like anyone cared about that kind of thing right now.

Spencer tried to mind his own business as Lori and Carl fussed with each other. The young man clearly not interested in the activity as he squirmed around impatiently. "C'mon just a little bit longer." Lori said.

"I'm trying!" Carl stated, his face wrinkling slightly even as Shane sat down in front of them. "You think this is bad wait till you start shaving." Shane responded with a small smirk. Reid couldn't help but roll his eyes a little, that man was going to be a horrible influence on that kid.

It seemed he did something to accidentally draw Shane's attention.

"Scoff all you want special agent, you look like you haven't needed a shave a day in your life. You could use a haircut though, starting to really look like a girl." He yelled out, flailing his hand slightly. The camp went still, Morgan and Derek turning to glance at each other with wide eyes as they waited to see how Spencer would handle the situation.

"No thank you. This virus spreads faster than any other known illness in history, that means its likely airborne. I have enough knowledge to know this... thing, is more aggressive than even rabies, which has a near one hundred percent mortality rate. So I think its a safer practice for everyone if we maintain a level of distance. That being said, we have bigger thins to worry about then haircuts. In the next few weeks power will go out completely in this area, the food will become scarce so we'll have to move, and when that happens it'll be hard to find clean water to drink. We need to start preparing for all of those things." Spencer explained as he calmly hung up the last piece of wet clothing in his basket.

Shane and Lori tensed. "There are children here, your going to scare them." Lori said as she looked down to her son. Spencer just shrugged a little.

"Kids, and adults too, find the unknown even scarier. It would do everyone some good to have a plan for when things go bad, it gives them something to fall back on." Spencer stated plainly.

Shane glared at him. "Your talking like its the end of the damn world, and even if it was what exactly have you been doing?" Shane asked in an accusatory manner.

Morgan and Rossi where just glad Reid hadn't resorted to his own... special form of violence.

"I've been reading. Medical texts and chemistry books. If push comes to shove the three most important parts of survival is going to be food, water and basic medicine. So I'm fixing the problem before it becomes one." Spencer explained, the finality in his tone effectively shutting Shane up.

"Heyyy Reid!" Morgan called out awkwardly, breaking the tense silence and gaining Reid's attention. "Why don't you come over here and I can teach you how to chop? I'm sure your getting pretty bored with all that reading." He teased, effectively breaking the tenseness that settled over the camp as Spencer shook his head with a small smile on his face.
