"Ellie, you'll be fine here."
"But I don't want to leave you." She said as she clung to her older brother.
"I'll come visit you. I just think you need to be somewhere where there are less problems. This small time should be fine for you."
"But why can't I stay with you?"
"I need to make amends and I don't want to force you to come with me as I do that."
"Okay...."
"Besides, you need to have a normal life for once, kid."
"I'm not a kid." She pouted.
"You'll always be a kid to me."
"Rude."
The two siblings embraced each other in silence as they both tried convincing themselves they would be okay without the other. The sounds of cars driving past them on the streets of the small town, the sounds of chatter of the few people who roamed the sidewalks, and the sounds of birds chirping were the only things heard by the two before they pulled away.
A kiss was placed on her forehead, before he pulled away and got into the car they drove there in. She sat on the bench and watched as the car drove away. And when it finally passed the town sign, she sighed.
