Silent Heart (Lisrene Adaptation)

50:50 Smile

Lisa took the orange from Irene's hand and was looking at Irene confusedly. She saw the girl in front of her was smiling sweetly at her and once again Lisa felt a beat in her heart still that unfamiliar feeling was slowly making her feel uncomfortable.

Lisa: What's this? She asked shortly

Irene: Duh! That's fruit, maybe you forgot that you left your orange earlier in the cafeteria. As a good student here in Militia Sky, I was kind enough to give it back to you. She said with pride. And, um, because... Because I remember you haven't had lunch yet so maybe you're hungry, so that's it. She said shyly with her hands behind her back and was looking down to her feet.

Lisa wondered about Irene's behavior, she wasn't lying on the ground, but why was Irene talking about her shoes.

Lisa: Thanks

Irene immediately looks up when she heard Lisa thanking her. It wasn't the sarcastic thank you she got earlier, it was a bit subtle and sincere enough to be accepted. And how her eyes grew in shock because she quickly saw how Lisa flash a quick smile to her. It was not a fake smile, although it wasn't that real also, maybe it was a 50:50 smile. But Irene felt her heart rapidly beating and she could feel her cheeks burning. What she was feeling now is something new to her, it's the first time she felt this way, it was still unclear to her why her heart would beat whenever she's in  front of her and even she just look at Lisa. Irene was shocked when Lisa suddenly turned away from her and started walking again.

"Waah! What's the problem with that? There's no form of conversation at all?!" Irene said to herself.

Irene: Lisa wait a minute! Wait for me! While walking behind Lisa.

Still Lisa didn't mind the girl behind her, she already said thank you to her because her orange was returned to her this lunchtime. She even gave a very, well try to give Irene a smile that was almost sincere, but not so real, she was still adjusting, even Commander Manoban only saw the real smile and the laughing Lisa only one time and it was a long time ago, when Lisa first experience the rain.

Flashback

It was around 4 in the afternoon and the sky wasn't its usual sky blue color rather it was gloomy and the breeze filled the atmosphere. Lisa was 9 years old, she was sitting in the garden and was just looking puzzled at the roses she was observing. She was tilting her head left and right trying to figure out why is it red and the other one is white.

Behind Lisa is a glass sliding door separated herself from the inside of the house was the person was the person who took her in. Lisa heard the door slide and is now staring blankly at the person in front of her with her cold brown eyes. Argos step outside with his hands in his pocket, he looks at Lisa and spoke.

Commander Manoban: Come on, let's take a closer look at the roses.

He offered his hand to Lisa to stand up, but Lisa refuses to acknowledge his helping hand instead stood up on her own and walk towards the planted roses. When they were in front of it, Argos bent down and pick one roses and gave it to Lisa who was now in a quizzical state.

Commander Manoban: Lisa, do you know that roses are beautiful and can prick or hurt you at the same time. They can be in a different kind of colors too, but I prefer it to be red and white. If ever you might be asking why, in that silent head of yours, red symbolizes love while white is purity. Its thorns are like the war; swords, knives, guns, bullets, all that can hurt you, but despite of that a rose will always bloom, life will always find a way to continue. Love and purity what makes life colorful, you may not understand it now, but I promise you. In time you will. He smiled at Lisa.
