Maya's POV:

I threw my backpack on the couch as I reached my quiet apartment after school.

Today felt like the longest Monday ever.

I headed to the fridge and saw there was some food from the diner where my mom worked.

She brought it home since she doesn't go to the grocery store a lot.

I started eating some chicken wrap and cleaned up after myself.

I grabbed my bag and headed out the front door.

I got halfway out the door to realize I forgot something.

I reached for my guitar case and locked my front door.

I made my way to the nearest subway station and took a seat in a corner.

I opened my guitar case and took out my guitar.

My mom took a lot of extra shifts to buy this for me for my 15th birthday.

It's the best present I've ever recieved.

I took out one of my picks for the guitar and left the case open.

I started strumming the guitar lightly.

Some people looked in my direction as they passed by.

I started to sing a tune out loud.

We are young we are gold

Trying things we didn't know

Looking at the sky, see it come alive

All our dreams became our hopes

Climb out every locked window

We can reach the constellations

Trust me, all our dreams are breaking

Oh, yeah we're never gonna turn to dust

Yeah all we really need is us

Don't be scared to close your eyes

No we're never gonna die

We'll be the Stars..

(Sorry if lyrics are wrong I did this from memory)

I strummed the last note and everybody in the subway cheered.

I watched as people dropped money into my case and I smiled at them. "Thank you so much."

Once the crowd cleared, i put my guitar away and placed my money in a baggy.

Unlike some teenagers, I'm not planning on using this money in a selfish way.

I'm saving it up for my mom. She needs it more than me.

I've gotten about 100 bucks, since I've been playing guitar and writing some songs at the subway.

Riley is the only person that knows I write songs though.

I picked up my case to hear a voice behind me.

"You are alright hart." A male voice said.

I turned around to see a familiar face.

Lucas.

"Thanks." I mumbled, walking away.

But he kept following me, even out the subway building.

I turned around, trying not to lose my temper. "Do you mind?"

Lucas looked like he had no idea what I was talking about or he didn't care.

He came up next to me and leaned his arm on my shoulder. "So I was thinking, we go way back... How about I take you on a date?"

I pushed his arm off and brushed it off. "First, don't touch me. Second, I would never on a million years."

I walked away, leaving a shocked and rejected Lucas behind.
