Fear and loving in Tahoe

Start from the beginning

Teenage love is something that is completely different from what I feel for Maddy.  With Maddy, I can't imagine, not being with him. That fact really scared me, being so dependent on someone in such a short amount of time.

"Look at yourself Mel. You look fantastic."

I was scared to look.  I ran my hands down the front of my dress. I turned to face the mirror. I stood barefoot. I was amazed by the beauty of the dress. It was a deep midnight blue, with a sweetheart neckline. The top was very fitted but the bottom that had a bubble hem that fell just above my knees. There were cute little pockets in the front that I couldn't help but stick my hands in. Looking at myself in the mirror cause me to stand straighter. I smiled admiring myself.

"Do you think Maddy will like this?"

"If he doen't, he is a fool."

This made me blush a little. I wasn't sure why. I just to distract myself. " Hair up or down?"

She pulled my hair up and then laid it back down. " I have an idea, you just have to trust me."

"Of course I trust you."

"Then lets get to work."

She worked on my hair for about forty minutes. She made me sit away from the mirror. She said that she only wanted me to see the end result.  It took a lot less time to apply my makeup. I had very strict requirements when it came to make up. I wanted to wear very little and look as natural as possible.

When we were finished I slipped on a pair of deep red flats that Bell was just so happened to bring along.

When I looked in the mirror, it wasn't that same girl I'd seen weeks before. I looked invigorated. My hair was up in a side swoop bun that was very Taylor Swift. I couldn't help but superficially look at myself.

I looked at my watch that no longer seemed to match my attire. I quickly removed just after noticing that it was 4:45. Maddy would be here at anytime.

About that time July came barreling in like a wild banshee. Then when she spotted me she stopped dead in her tracks. "Mommy?"

"Yes sweetie."

" I was just making sure." She looked at me for several minutes. She tilted her head one way, then tilted her head the other with her eyes squinted.

"Mommy?"

"Yes baby?"

"You are the prettiest Mommy ever! I hope that one day I look like you!"

I squatted down and kissed her on the cheek and she wrapped her arms around my neck.

" I love you, Mommy"

" I love you too, Sweet Pea."

"Mommy?"

"Yes?"

" Maddy's here."

At that moment for some odd reason my stomach did a flip. I wasn't sure that I could go through with this. I wasn't ready for a relationship.

" July, why don't you go and entertain Maddy. Tell him I need some more time."

Bell just looked at me like I had lost it.

"Okay Mommy, Can I tell him my jokes?"

I nodded my head. " Sure, why don' t you tell him the one about the fruit punch."

"Oh yeah! That is my favorite."  She turned on her heels and was gone before I could say anything else.

"What is wrong with you Mel, you are already ready."
