line

/līn/

noun

1. a long, narrow mark or band.

Ever since I was a little girl, my father would define the word line as something visual. Something big and bold, easy to be seen with the naked eye. Something that separates two places or things. He never told me how sometimes you can't see it. And how sometimes it's not right there in front of you. However, you can't always rely on seeing the lines with your eyes. Sometimes they're figurative lines. I wish he would've taught me that sooner. Now I can't rely on my eyes to tell me where one thing ends and another begins. Now I'm lost trying to figure out if I'm over the line or still behind it. Have I crossed that point of no return? Or am I not even close to it? If I was to try and draw this line I'm speaking of, it would be blurry and misshapen. Something that you probably couldn't even define as a line, yet, believe it or not, it once was. It was once a perfectly straight line, drawn exactly, definitely, and obviously. Now, not a person on this earth could see that line anymore.

Ultimately, I'll have to find where the line and I fall throughout the chaos.
