Hello!!! I am back. College has been cruel to your girl. I had finished writing this on the 26th of March and only posted it now. Because I didn't have time to even breathe. Sad things aside, I have given up on college work for some time and getting back to my writing. Hope you enjoy it!

ALPHA ORIEF REI VADEUS'S POV

I didn't need to be fully conscious or open my eyes to know that Felix wasn't in the room.

Yes, I had decided that since I don't have any work for a while now I should go see the queen and maybe redeem myself a little. I was hoping I could eat dinner together and I would present my side to her, but she was already asleep when she reached the wedding house and I didn't have the heart to wake her up.

As much as Huxx has explained to me that the wedding is indeed of a supernatural being from the community here in Canada. And they have known this couple since their school days. So while the overall guest of the house only included our kind of people, soon the humans will start arriving too.

At first, I wanted to come along with Huxx but he insisted that I reach beforehand, since he still has some work to deal with. So here I was, early morning in front of the villa, in the beautiful and cold countryside, expecting a couple of people. But it turns out I was wrong. There were no less than 15 people around here and I had the pleasure of meeting all of them and hearing all about how excited they are for Felix and congratulating me on finally finding my mate. I thanked them and extended an offer to come to visit us whenever they would like.

Then I was introduced to Lord Tristan, a half-vampire and half-werewolf, the owner of this lovely establishment and the would-be groom. "The estate is gorgeous Lord Tristan. I hope I am not intruding on your wedding celebrations."

"It's an honour to have you here, your majesty. The estate is an old family heritage and it looks even more magnificent without all this snow. Though I have to say Felix didn't mention that you would be joining us?"

At the loss of what to answer I settled for the classic ', it was last minute decision'. After which I wasn't enquired much and was shown the room which the queen usually occupied on her visits here. It was assumed that I would be sharing her quarters and I didn't object to it.

At dinner that night I got to hear a lot about Felix during her high school years. Her absence only made her friends more willing to share their different experiences with her.

From what I gathered, Felix had been a vocalist for their high school band, she was a student body favourite and a generally helpful person. This didn't stop the people from being intimidated by her. Huxx used to be ironically called the prince and everyone thought that she would have ended up with him and be a part of the royalty.

At this point, the lovely Miss Brooks who had been chatting away realized that she shouldn't have said that. I gave her a quick assurance that I know how society works and there is no problem with the assumptions which existed half a decade ago.

I retired back to the room since I knew that my presence made the atmosphere a lot more formal. It didn't take me long to slide under the blankets and succumb to sleep.

And now I am awake and Felix is nowhere to be seen. Her side of the bed is cold meaning she has been out for a few hours at least. Performing my morning routine, I enquired around for her whereabouts and was informed that she had left the villa hours before dawn. And that she will most probably be at an old tower further in the estate.

So here I am equipped with two cups of tea and outside the said tower. I won't say it was a tower, the architecture was closer to a lighthouse. Letting my senses free, I breathe in and out for a few seconds and enter through the door.

There, in a cocoon of blanket sat Felix, with a book in her hand. I knew she was aware of my presence but gave no acknowledgement of that. So I settled down on a bench nearby and placed the tea on the table near where she was brooding.

We both sat there in absolute and awkward silence, waiting for the other one to speak. As the moments passed I could feel her tension ease by small fractions and being replaced by a strong wave of unease. If it was her unease or mine I don't know.

"Please say something." I urged her.

And she whipped her head towards me with a look in her eyes, equivalent to what I would call strings getting snapped.

"I have already spoken a lot of unnecessary stuff, your majesty." Your majesty? What about Rei? " These are my problems and I need to deal with them on my own. I have already troubled you a lot and it would be a-"

Suppressing my irritation I defended, "You haven't troubled me."

"As I have mentioned earlier my king, please don't interrupt me when I say something." Her tone picked up some volume.

"I digress, Miss Felix, I have a right to interrupt when I am being treated in a manner I don't deserve. Which in this case is being treated like a stranger. I don't enjoy your particularly rude and formal tone when I am used to talking quite freely in your presence"

She avoided my eyes and she curled further in her blankets. I abandoned my seat and slowly tried to bridge the physical distance between her and me.

"I know you are tired after the missions, Felix." I didn't want to bring this up but I feel like I should address it. "I can see that, feel that. And even though I haven't been the best mate. I don't think I deserve a stranger treatment," looking back at what Acimer said, "Do I?"

She threw off her blankets and leapt off the couch, "No you don't I am sorry. I shouldn't have said anything."

I gently push her to sit down again, "The problem isn't in vocalizing your thoughts but I was supposed to be aware of the fact that not even once have I asked for your take on things. What I was supposed to do was ask you. And be more forthcoming about me." I took hold of both her hands, "So give me the honour of asking, what's wrong?"

Felix searched my face for a quick second and then her body gave way to the fatigue. Her shoulders drooped down, her figure slouched, "I am tired."

Okay, tired, I can work with that. It's a good start. "Should we go take a nap? I feel like I can sleep some more. Or do we go get breakfast?" I suggested.

She mulled over the options for a second then said, "Maybe both but first I need fresh air."

"Then fresh air is where we go."

We relocated to the top of the tower and enjoyed the view for another half hour or so while sipping tea. Felix sensing that I had done talking enough for a few days, filled the silence between us with her rambles. About the groom, the bride, this villa, and her time spent here. And I quietly basked in her excitement.

As she folded the blankets, I took the opportunity to get the confession off my chest, "I apologize for being such a negligent person."

"Rei..." she called out reprovingly.

"No, I have been. And to make it up to you. I have taken a crash course from Acimer on what a good partner should be so you don't have to worry about your friends."

Her mouth dropped open and she waited to see if I was joking. I was not joking Felix. "You look excited and determined and to top it off Acimer has given you tips. Moon Goddess am I ready for this?"

"Hey, I have worked hard to understand human behavior okay?"

She snorted and replied, "Fine we will see. The worst that could happen is you get a headache from all the talking which will happen, right?"
