Chapter XI - The Plot at Hand

In the snowy streets of Barbara similar to when they first met during one of Alastair's passing war expeditions, Alastair caught Roselle and brought her back. During the ride home in the carriage, he proposed a deal with her.

Alastair knew Cadmael was obsessed with Roselle because she was his former fiancé.

If she could help him as a spy within the inner palace, they could bring Cadmael's reign of terror down and bring revenge for both their parents.

Roselle was reluctant at first, but accepted the deal anyways.

She entered the imperial palace as a flower once more. Following along with her was Alastair under the pretense as her personal guard.

At last the main story of the novel finally begins. The struggle and dynamics of Roselle's relationships with the people inside the imperial palace unfolded under the unpredictable threat of the mad tyrant.

'I think that sums about most of what I know about Cadmael.' I gazed in deep thought through the open window where the cool breeze came in. The view over the forest confined inside the palace's inner walls felt relaxing to the eyes.

Because the novel heavily focused on Roselle and her relationships, the only information I was exposed with was how she viewed the Augustin imperial family's circumstances from her perspective. Not to mention, I only read half of it. Moreover, you can't expect me to remember everything I read from a novel I didn't like.

Oh, come to think of it. Yumi always preferred isekai villainess stories where the protagonist has a light-hearted or comedic romance. But 'The Rose Inside The Palace' was darker and didn't feature isekai. Moreover...

I shifted my head a little bit to look downwards.

'Lawd Jesus. It's also pierced. How was the heroine and villainess able to handle this monstrosity?'

Heat crept up my cheeks so I looked away.

Jesus. Even after seeing one multiple times I'm still overwhelmed by his. Or should I say it's mine now?

Hmm. I'm curious how sex as a man would feel like.

Ack. I should stop thinking about useless things. Even as a man, my mind is still gripped with horny.

I scrubbed my mind clean. Anyway...

Cadmael was written as a sort of an enigmatic pure villain in the first half of the novel. I guess the author gave him more complexity in the latter half otherwise Yumi wouldn't have been able to sympathize with him so much.

I could already guess what 'complexity' it was. Granted that both mother and father had been so perfect, Cadmael must've been such a disappointment.

The memory of Cadmael's mother started to resurface inside my mind.

'Cadmael...'

I hurriedly threw the thought away.

No! No more flashbacks!

I don't care how grim Cadmael's past might've been. It still doesn't excuse the fact that he's scum.

"It is done, Your Majesty." The maid lifted her hands after gently massaging my hair with perfumed shampoo.

At her cue, I raised my head from the soft bath pillow and plunged myself deep into the cold crystal water laden with rose petals. When I came up, the warm rays of sunshine greeted me as they leaked from the transparent window installed atop the dome where the emperor's private bathroom belonged. The cute maid gasped and I smiled at her. She lowered her head to hide her blushing.

Paying no further attention, I took the stairs upwards the large marble bath. Droplets of water dripped over Cadmael's muscular body starting from his golden hair, reflecting the light above until it formed a small rainbow. Another set of pretty maids quickly rushed forward to dry it all with a towel. But as one of the soft pairs of hands proceeded to delve lower, I caught her wrist with my hand.

She immediately crumbled down to her knees and trembled in fear. The others were taken aback and stepped away. I let go of her wrist and headed towards the door. I took the bathrobe one of them held before me and wore it into the bedroom.

Hello.

I apologize for not updating for months. The reason why I got held up was because college came and I had become busy with online classes. I had no time to work on this book until now when we were given a short break.

Originally I planned to release this novel five chapters at a time but seeing that you enjoy it, it made me happy so I decided to release what I've finished earlier that's been sitting in my phone for months.

Again, sorry for the delay. And thank you for sticking to this little hobby of mine. Haha.
