France had always been the city known for love and romance.

Sparks would fly between couples under the lit city with the magnificent Eiffel Tower in the background. For those who visited, it was that, a place for love to ignite in the hearts of fiery beasts who wanted to make their occasion a special one. For those who lived there, however, it was always a different story. The fresh scent of bread baking in the ovens and the sounds of children running up and down the neighborhood, stopping by a few bakeries and getting their little hands filled with treats.

That's how it was remembered.

Least for a certain blonde woman, who sat cozily in her chair at an outside café, watching the streets of Manhattan flourish with people.

Her gaze was calculated as if she knew what every person was doing next. From the college student across the street to the old man reading his newspaper. It was similar to her reading the minds of people who found themselves in her pathway. A fun activity, something she did when she needed a moment to recline from the world.

A sense of denial. Sad was it not? Reality was like a harsh winter, something that would hit you during the time when you didn't need it to. This was her escape. Her need to disappear from it all. And so, that was what the French woman did, as she sipped the bitter coffee in hand and watched as the world surrounding her wasted to ultimately...nothing.

Yet, she hadn't come to the streets to start some frantic chaos and overtake the population of such a large city. While chaos had the tendency to follow the witch wherever she went, her intentions were pure of heart...to an extent.

Arianna Antoun, the sole daughter of Frederick and Leah Antoun, and the heir of the Antoun Coven. A marvelous creature, one of extreme elegance and poise, had found herself in the midst of America in hopes of pursuing a goal of hers. A goal that had been taking up far too much of her time. The older she got, the less time she had and the less time she had, the more of a menace it would become.

One must be wondering, what exactly is she to achieve?

Come now, isn't the answer quite obvious, my dear? It happens to be something that most people find themselves yearning for. The taste of their enemy's blood on their lips as they watched them beg for their lives in an attempt to salvage whatever mercy you have left to give.

The story that takes place here is one that may be a tale as old as time, however, the interest of how it began and where it will end may take surprising turns to the point of shock, anger, or more.

But, I shall not spoil anymore, in fact, I'll allow for you to witness it yourself. After all, I am only but a narrator in this novel.
